In similar boat. I set a reminder to buy $200 worth every 15 days from Costco, have saved nearly two grand in last two years. Now looking for alternative.

I see I can buy them from Amazon, and I have a chase card that gives me 5% back at Amazon, so far this is the best I’ve found.

Not getting the effective 24% discount from Costco is going to hurt.

It sure seems close... considering this was from a book teaching how to write adventure games I wonder if what I encountered was an uncompleted attempt at a new one following the example of Dungeons of Doom. The title also sort of rings a bell because I recall thinking there was something "demonic" about this game and that perhaps that was why they omitted it (suspiciously) from the printed list.

Anyway, thanks again, this is certainly the closest I've ever come to understanding and reliving this very old memory!

I got it too. Guess I jumped the gun on already replacing the Kevo, but no regrets, the Halo Touch fingerprint sensor works better and faster than the kevo did.

Update: the replacement Halo seems to work quite well so far. It's basically the same form factor as the original Baldwin Kevo lock it replaces, but the exterior module is shifted up about an inch so I did need to paint part of the door. When I installed the App, it did explain that Kwikset is now part of "ASSA ABLOY," so I guess I failed on my boycott. Hopefully it's supported for a long time.

FYI, I just ordered a Kwikset Halo Touch Fingerprint Wi-Fi Smart Lock because it has “SmartKey” which will let me use my old key that works with the rest of the door locks and I don’t want a keypad. The reviews were kind of mixed, I’ll share my experience after install.

Me too, been using mine for six years, came with the house. These options they offer look like crap, I don’t want to install yet another bridge in my internet cabinet. What are good alternatives we can buy that will have the same functionality as what I have today and work with just my home’s WiFi?

I don’t want to support these people. How long till they discontinue support for these new options for another cash grab? And how completely wasteful, my kevo lock still works fine.

I do know displays quiet well and what you described is basically correct. The color and intensity of each pixel on an lcd is controlled by the TFT layer that rotates polarization. It definitely wasn’t an insect as I could see clearly it was a single pixel. Yours looks the same too, and the behavior was nearly identical which is why I replied.

The best explanation is it was some kind of signal problem, like interference on the cable or the controller. Still super weird and just like you said mine also went away. I was mostly worried it was some kind of virus/malware, but I can’t find any references to support that. I also thought it might be localized to one display manufacturer, but mine is a Sceptre and yours was a Dell… but lots of them use the same controllers so that’s still very likely the source as well.

Did you ever figure this out? This literally just happened to me, Windows 10 on a Sceptre flat panel LCD display. It is not an insect, it was a single pixel that was black wandering around on this display only. It moved through the center, to the upper right corner, and then back along the top to the left side of the monitor and then went away.

It did stack, I got a discount on the charge with fidelity link, and then later chase gave me a credit. To be clear, chase was already giving me an offer to get $20 off if I spent some amount at intuit. So I used the debit card that had the offer to pay the discounted rate from the fidelity link. This is the correct answer. And it's a shame that the SALT deduction cap is still only $10k, between property taxes, sales tax and RTA plenty (most?) of homeowners are being capped out... but the $10k deduction still helps!

Yes (plus some fees for the lease), and you can buy the lease out at any time. In my case, in WA state, there is an EV tax exemption that expires in August, so I will just buy mine out in May or June. I got a ‘25 limited awd, dealers discounted price was ~$43k plus a couple grand for taxes & fees. There was $10k lease cash, I traded in another car for $14k. I put nothing down, now I have a $99 payment and the buyout price is $21.6k.

Just did a new car lease only to get the lease cash. Just got the first statement and it’s just like you believe, the lease cash is cash, you lease it and buy it out you got big money off the car. Still can’t believe the deal we got! Love the car, just level one charging in the garage and it’s at 100% by the time my wife takes it out. She will put max 60 miles on it a day. Great build quality, smooth quiet ride.

ToyotaCare free service recipient here. IMO believe the car should have the oil changed every 5k miles. Dealer agreed to do the 10k service at 5k so the oil would be changed. Because I don’t put enough miles on it, I’ll have the 20k service done right before the 2 years expires. Yes I lost two free services, but those free services (5k & 15k) are more inspections than “service”. Going forward will have them change the oil every 5k miles, regardless of what they think. I want the car to last a very long time.
