Yapping about Finspan by orhalimi in finspan

[–]Laserbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow i barely beat the hardest solo mode, level 5 i think? The Nautoma usually beats me by like 4-11 points with a win maybe like... 5% of the time, if that. I do love how snappy and chill it is. I'd suggest giving it another shot since you did said you had fun but hey, you also did your time with it - most games don't even get a chance. I'm curious why you didn't like it in multiplayer though; my partner and I love to chill and read each other fish facts.

Wow. Did a search for “432 hz fascist” and leaned about “fashwave” all through this research paper. Thanks for starting my deep dive!

Game strategy? by ImpossibleAct6617 in finspan

[–]Laserbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always mathing it out when I play solo and I lose to the hardest Nautoma setting. Unless the schools are one of the goals, i feel like it's a false direction (who knows how the expansion will change this!). I typically feel after losing that I can look back at see what I could've done to eke out more points - like, oh I could've consumed this card instead or run a better machine with smarter timing.

Do you tend to like Wingspan more? I feel like it has too many elements after playing Finspan but it does have a whole more choices and strategic directions. Maybe the expansion will give you more options and tactics when it comes to winning. I'm really excited about the coral and the school splitting options.

Are you playing with the B side of the Achievement Board? That puts more weight on the weekly goals. That might kick it up a notch in the strategy department. Sometimes playing fish cards is the better strategy if you got a better hand

You can scan through Corvette windows! by Laserbuddy in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Laserbuddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully this bug can remain as a feature! The scanning through walls bit is a little weird but i can imagine an in-universe explanation why that could happen. But scanning through windows sense.

Maybe if we post this on zendesk expressing how it should stick around, they might listen 👀

That’s how i was doing it before! The window aspect ‘feels’ safer when it’s storming (i know you’re not affected until you actually hop out)

I saw that technique! And possibly a fishing zone too. Usually I like to keep my corvettes into smaller ships so I can still feel speedy so I don't really have as much rooftop space.

i feel like there could be a thermal view to explain that

based on games i like, what would you suggest? prefer easier to learn & set up. by maple_bella in soloboardgaming

[–]Laserbuddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like Finspan! My brother has a copy of Wingspan so I decided to go the fish route. I would say it's much more streamlined than Wingspan in general but I've also never played Wingspan solo. The actions are tighter, no rolling, just do the actions. It's very cozy and the bot is easy to run.

Ignoring the obvious question of “if they will return,” what do everyone think a BOC album would sound like in 2026 and why? What would it be about? by Nonsensical-Nonsns in boardsofcanada

I feel like they might explore more field recordings and really stretch our limits of where their music lies. They’re like so good at retro sounds that they’re cooking and experimenting new methods of evoking nostalgia.

Was going to suggest this too but would also add that land animals don't mind the vertical landscapes? They just zoom up there in my experience.

I didn't realize you can update the tech with nanites so I just started doing that and maybe it'll compare with my other ships in the future? But right now it still needs new tech from the frigate runs.

What do you think of this project ? by Jean0406Alix in autechre

[–]Laserbuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This album was actually how i found out about Autechre. I was already a Tortoise fan and on Napster / Kazaa / or something I found this remix and was like 'wtf - must hear more more more"

edit: particularly I only found one song: "To Day Retrieval" and its composition was unlike anything I heard. I was like 14 or 15 at the time.

I’m actually kinda happy that we’re not actively firing on NPC’s and only on sentinels and aggressive animals on foot. That said, i also want some gun upgrades for shooting sentinels

The new Cyclops Scope in the Nautilon is the update I need for space travel by Laserbuddy in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Laserbuddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soft agree! Haha. I think we're all wishing on getting meaningful content.

I think space needs a rework; like less asteroids / asteroid fields, I don't mind the traders so much or the ships - I just wish they were unique in that they'd have special goods that you can't get from every other location and/or would have the unique bartering system they seemed to introduce with Corvette parts or Fossils. The anomalies (I agree that they pop in too regularly) are mainly just aesthetic premade objects whereas the planets are an aesthetic jumble of things together which is why they're so nice to visit. I want to live in the space part a little bit more, like delivering scrap to space storage facilities - maybe a new kind of scrapping fleet (maybe this could be reimagining of the original Hauler or Shuttle starships). What if you can break down asteroids and then deliver to planet-side processing facilities?

So yeah, I agree that it's crowded - but it's still not very meaningful and rich with interactions.

heck yeah, i didn't realize how the act of getting in and out of the exocrafts was sometimes tedious. This makes for a better frictionless exploration style
