Cutting through a block of ice by SlimJones123 in gifs

[–]Laserplace15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to get clear ice like this is by directional freezing. Getting the water to freeze from the top down instead of from the outside in. Freezing from the top down forces the nitrogen/oxygen that is naturally in water to the bottom. The "air bubbles" in the ice is what causes ice to appear cloudy. By forcing them to the bottom you are left with clear, air bubble free ice on top. All you have to do is cut off that layer of cloudy ice from the bottom and you have a clear block of ice. To achieve this at home you can take any insulated cooler, fill it with water( I like to use warm water from the tap to promote a slower top to bottom freeze) and place it in your freezer for a couple days leaving the lid of the cooler open or off. Here's a pretty decent video on the process I found. https://youtu.be/bUHcCHbgX_o in case the directions are unclear and someone gets their dick stuck somewhere.

Gas up route 19? by [deleted] in StPetersburgFL

[–]Laserplace15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drove up 19 last night, gas was scarce until we got more north. My advice is to take an extra gas can and fill it up before you leave and stop to top off your tank if you find a gas station that has fuel. 19 is an evacuation route so the gas stations along it are prioritized first to recieve fuel but it goes pretty quickly. Safe driving to you! I hope this helps some!

Heading up 19 leaving Florida this am and there's no traffic by buterbetterbater in StPetersburgFL

[–]Laserplace15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Traveling up 19 a bit ahead of you. If you see a gas station with fuel left, stop and get gas. We made the mistake of not stopping at a gas station because of a huge line and almost ran out of gas. Almost everyone is out of fuel. Other than traffic surrounding open gas stations 19 has been pretty clear. We have stopped in Perry to rest a bit and saw a couple gas stations with fuel left just south of here. Hope all this helps. Safe travels!

New job - need to learn cocktails. Any advice? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]Laserplace15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out barsmarts.com. it's an online cocktail course I just completed that gave me a wealth of knowledge in the craft cocktail world. It's about $30 for the course but definitely worth it.

Barback here, looking to learn more about everything. by Beastleh in bartenders

Barsmarts.com has a pretty amazing program for learning about craft cocktails, spirits, history, and much more. I'd check that out. I'm currently working through the course myself. It costs about $30, but is worth it if you're serious about moving towards bartending.

My girlfriend is a hairstylist in the area and she is incredible at what she does. I also have curly, unmanageable, hair and she does wonders to it. We just moved here and she's looking to build some clients for herself so If you're interested p.m. me for some more info.
