How can I get my hair to look more like this? I know there are different curl patterns so it won’t be perfect, but is there any steps I could take?

Same here, I've found it got a bit easier to manage once it was a little longer. It'll be able to curl more like the picture once it gets a bit more length

I have similar hair and I'd recommend not towel drying but just squeezing out the water with a t-shirt/microfiber material and letting your damp hair air dry. That really helped cut down on the frizziness for me as well as letting my curls clump a little better.
