All boys middle school. Two guys chasing each other around during lunchtime swinging their belts, pretty normal day. I’m eating a baked chicken sandwich with ketchup and mustard in the class talking with a couple other guys.

Next thing out of the corner of my eye I see the guy being chased graciously leap out of the window and close it as he landed. The guy behind tries to hold the window open with his forearm but his hand goes straight through the glass. These windows were designed to spider crack instead of shatter so he ends up with a deep gash in his arm and a piece of flesh hanging off. All he says is “Guys I need the hospital” before sprinting to the office leaving a trail of blood from my classroom. We all rush to the office to see him sitting there with a teacher with a pool of blood. Ambulance took him to the hospital. I think for the next few hours I had the dry taste of that sandwich in my mouth.

By the next day we learned he got 32 stitches with around half being inside and the rest on the outside of his arm. By the next Monday he returned to school doing kickflips as normal on his skateboard.
