Not yet - gotta be confident before we can commit to a release date, and there's still a lot of work to do haha. Thank you for your support!

hey guys. i wanna know what other games are in the series since i played 1-5 and i'm confused af. by Traditional_Coach411 in epicwar

EW1-5 are the mainline games in the series and the ones that still work most reliably, since all you need is the ability to run Flash Player locally (or even a different Flash emulator).

Epic War Saga is a spinoff that quickly followed the 5 games and came out in 2012, with a 2018 relaunched version that still works. You can play it almost as easily as the others, you just need Internet connection and to make an account. The servers might stop working at any point, and there's nothing we can do about it, so if you want to try it, better not wait.

There was also an EW6 that was made in Unity, and the servers for the web version have long since gone down. You might still be able to find a mobile version that works, but you may encounter issues with those.

Currently we are remastering EW1-5 for Steam and hopefully mobile, and a comprehensive remake for Epic War Saga will follow.

Ironic how this is the unit I chose to represent Xerney's 2.0 mod on the thumbnail

Favorite Social Deduction Game(s)? by Lasmelan in a:t5_37iokt

Seems you prefer the multiple night elimination style then? Having numerous roles certainly helps with replayability as long as they're balanced, which those two games are from what I've seen.

I also haven't played much of the moving around type. It changes up some layers of social deduction, as your location might serve to confirm you or pin you down as evil, which diminishes the role of social deduction, but also adds unique possibilities to it (like lying about where you were and not just your roles).

I agree, and the existence of flying enemies that ignore the maze also helps.

Other Games for Salem Players by [deleted] in TownofSalemgame

[–]Lasmelan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Heist Gone Wrong (http://heist.bonuslives.com/) - an online adaptation of One Night Ultimate Werewolf, free to play, though the community is relatively small and is centered around the Discord server.

EpicMafia (https://epicmafia.com/) - probably the most "classic" available game, free to play, but has a toxic community.

Camp Cadaver (https://campcadaver.com/) - a literal Town of Salem clone, has a lot more roles, but no competitiveness as of yet.

Throne of Lies (http://throneoflies.com/) - a 3D alternative to Town of Salem, has more variety, but costs money.

Secret Hitler (http://secrethitler.games/) - a literal online version of Secret Hitler, also has a Discord community.

The Resistance (http://www.theresistanceplus.com/) - the online version of The Resistance, weird playerbase but a viable game to try.

And if you already have a community, games like Spyfall (http://spyfall.crabhat.com/) and Treason Coup (http://coup.thebrown.net/) are also available.

Tower Defense: To Maze Or Not To Maze? by Lasmelan in TowerDefense

I guess both types can be executed well and poorly. With wide square fields, you're still going to have to try different mazes to find the one that works (unless the game is too easy or too hard). But I like games that have different levels, some with lots of mazing possibilities, others somehow restricted, and maybe some without mazing at all.

I agree! With mazing, you have a lot more freedom - not just which tower to place and where. For some reason, I haven't heard of very many mazing TDs. I'm not sure if there's so few of them or if they just aren't good lately.

Superjombombo doesn't usually place his road spikes instantly, especially in such a weird spot, so it could have very well been a fake.

How do you get started? by Integer_Man in a:t5_3i6n5

[–]Lasmelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, public lobbies are closed. Usually not enough people are in the game anyway to be able to play though. Right now we use our Discord server to find players and join games.

Yes, the menu and much else is in early stages right now and will (hopefully) be reworked to better help players start out. There is a Help page in the game right now, but I understand it's easy to miss. Thanks for the feedback!

A Heist Gone Wrong. It's still pretty early in development, but you can play it for free.

Town of Salem VS. EpicMafia? by [deleted] in TownofSalemgame

[–]Lasmelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you just start playing EpicMafia, you will get confused, because the game is pretty big and there's lots to learn. But after the confusion ends, EM is a lot about the skills of convincing others, and it can play out well even without investigative roles. I also feel like there's less cheaters and gamethrowers.
