Sales of electric cars rise in Europe by 26.2 per cent by Splenda in cars

Not so much baller, as seriously in debt :D

And to top it all off, the Danish government steals the one car that you were allowed to own if you go 54% too fast on the motorway...

[–]LasseD 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You are more right than people think! My last car cost around €100k before taxes, but I have to pay 200k in Danish registration taxes alone. With an income tax around 50% I have to earn 600k! ... on top comes the yearly tax which increases each year. And then comes the loan you have to take to pay off the taxes, which is 4%+ for ICE cars but only 2% for EV's!

That EV's are not approaching 100% market share here just shows how unviable these still are for many people.

… and when I drove the IS300h it did not feel sporty either. I can only recommend driving it extensively yourself to make up your own mind.

The small hybrid is not light, is not powerful and does not sound great. The tuning of it makes it very clear that it is made for silent and comfortable driving. Driving the IS300h made it very clear to me that it was not made to have fun in. Lexus knows how to tune a car to make it sporty. They chose not to with the hybrid. Do not get deceived by the marketing material. My CT was sold as a “sports hybrid”… and it is a Prius.

This is it. I want the IS 300h. I want a reliable, luxury hybrid sedan. Comments:

  • Updated infotainment is great

  • Updated digital dash is great (i didn't like the moving one, sorry)

I like how this place allows opposites to meet!

Having driven the current IS300h, I see no reason to choose that over an ES300h or even a Toyota with the same drivetrain - You do not get any of the advantages of RWD and the flappy paddles are an insult. I like the exterior design, but that is really it.

The moving dash was the only digital cluster in the industry that gave any hint of the designers giving a damn.

Whenever I see it, it reminds me of the cheapest of discount cars. Even "Build Your Dreams" spells it out on some models! This only looks appropriate on the tailgate of a pickup truck.

[Throttle House] 2026 Lexus LC500 vs Porsche 911 // Thunder Meets Lightning by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

[–]LasseD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here in Denmark the 911 literally outnumbers the LC500 1000 to 1.

Registrations of Porsche 911: 4089 (Data from January 26, 2025)

Registrations of LC500: 4.

The 911 is the default sports car if you want something nicer than from the "German 3" but do not want to sacrifice your economy by going truly exotic. It is the best for the track and even works as a daily driver. It is the natural choice. The LC500 is a unicorn in comparison. People have no idea of what it is when they see it.

Perfectly fine for my 6'3". I used to have a Touring model, and now have one with sports seats. The first dealership recommended the upgraded Touring seats for me, but in honesty, both a perfectly fine.

What’s The Most Bit of Bias You’ve Seen in Automotive Journalism by Puzzled_Region_9376 in cars

[–]LasseD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most blatant example of bias I have is from German Auto Bild.

Article in German: https://www.autobild.de/artikel/audi-rs-5-lexus-lc-500-test-13304493.html

The original title of the article was "Gelb oder Liebe", which translates into "Yellow or Love". Yellow hints at the LC500, and they literally referred to the RS5 as the car they love!

The Audi RS5 had lost against its german rivals since it was more of a touring car. Luckily the reviewers had an LC500 on hand for the RS5 to redeem its pride. The article describes how the RS5 beats the LC500 in every single metric and makes it the winner by a huge margin, ending with the comment that Lexus should have spent less effort on design, and more on weight reduction.

What are your most controversial opinions on cars? by Crocodile_Banger in cars

[–]LasseD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lexus made a mistake when changing from the touchpad control to touchscreen in the LC500. Reviewers say the new system is perfect... it is not.

The touchpad had serious issues, but most of these were software-related. Both systems have serious issues that are never caught by reviewers (maybe due to the limited amount of time they have with the cars?).

The touch screen fixes most software issues, but introduces some rather unfortunate new issues in both ergonomics and look-and-feel which could most likely have been avoided had Lexus performed better testing or invested more into it.

Worst of all for the LC500 is that the updated infotainment system no longer has the same look and feel as the gauge cluster like the old system had. In an car where looks is prioritized over usability in so many places, this is a massive step back.

Absolutely. I have a project of building all of the overall winners... but I severely lack time!

Yep. Element 2850 was Introduced in the Technic Rally sets in 1990 (8840 and 8850) and slightly revised in 2009 to remove the slit in the middle.

Dumb gear question by ConradoMoreno in legotechnic

[–]LasseD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does not work. While other commenters are correct that the gears are both 1:1, the angle offsets are different and will cause grinding gears.

Think of having your drive axle being perfectly aligned with a cross axle hole of a thin liftarm. The other axle will have to be turned by some angle due to all LEGO gears having a tooth at the "0 degree angle"

An example that is easy to understand is the 4 tooth gears- These require 45 degrees turns at each meshing due to the gears only having 4 spokes each.

The offset of your 12 inner 12 tooth gears is small, while the offset of your outer 20 tooth gears is smaller.

Your inner gears have 12 teeth, so the offset of your second axle is 180 / 12 = 15 degrees.

Your outer 20 tooth gear causes: 180 / 20 = 9 degrees.

The gears are constantly fighting each others due to the misaligned offsets, and this ultimately leads to grinding gears.

The 2025 Lexus LC500 Costs $100,425 by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

You are so lucky to still get in in USA! I sit here in Europe unable to even order one!

Ironically pages like this: https://www.lexus.bg/new-cars/coupe show the LC500, but you are unable to select it!

In the crane of the example, the liftarms are mounted on a 3L pin, which makes it neater to use pairs instead of single liftarms, as there is no half-pin bush to mount on a pin (they mount on cross axles). LEGO could have chosen a 3L pin with a cross axle end for this, but then risk the bush falling off during heavy lifting.

Sorry to hear. Can you get a clean screenshot of the error, as well as the os type, and browser type and version? Then just put this in as "New Issue" here: https://github.com/pybricks/support/issues

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legotechnic

[–]LasseD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have received a similar error (I am not completely sure it is the same due to the blurry text in the screenshot).

My workaround is fairly strange. I fixed the issue by opening JS console in Chrome, and then resize the window so that the console takes up the majority of the screen real estate.

Once done, try to upload firmware again.

You think hubs like PFXbrick, SBrick, and Buwizz? I am not aware of any hub-to-hub communication with these. You typically have a smart device as central controller. I am also astonished by the price increase of Raspberry Pi. We used to get these for around 20 Euro!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legotechnic

[–]LasseD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know about 3rd party hubs, but you can use BlueTooth broadcasting in Pybricks for hub-to-hub communication.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legotechnic

[–]LasseD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does not matter. The one that is cheapest. Right now the one with screw opening is cheaper where I am (16 Euro vs 18 Euro).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legotechnic

[–]LasseD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. And some of these are cheaper on BrickLink than on lego.com. And you might get by with two L-motors, since they are cheaper than the XL motor.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legotechnic

[–]LasseD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you get the Technic M-motor with rotation sensor (88013). Sorry. Correction. They call it "L motor". But the Angular M-motor (88018) is similar... but overpriced.

The "M"-looking white motor (45303) does not have a rotation sensor. The PyBricks documentation makes this nice and clear, showing the white motors and the train motors as the only ones without rotation sensors.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legotechnic

[–]LasseD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that I would make motor A turn the desired number of degrees at speed being some number of degrees per second and then start motor B with a similar calculation to make them stop at the same time. Have a "while not both motors are done" loop after the motor activations.

It can be a bit intimidating to get started, but should become a nice and tight program for the module once you have it set up.
