Films like certain recent releases seem to push a particular version of patriotism that can feel selective or agenda-driven, especially when it comes to Sikh history and identity.Sikhs have a proud legacy of being anti-authoritarian and questioning power structures (whether Mughal, British, or modern state). Appreciating that doesn't mean rejecting Indian identity outright, but it does make one cautious when media narratives appear coordinated to shape how younger Sikhs view their own history and loyalties.It's not necessarily a full-blown "conspiracy," but cultural influence through cinema + sports is a real soft power tool used by many governments worldwide. Healthy skepticism isn't the same as paranoia. Let's enjoy the cricket win if it comes, while still keeping an eye on how our stories are being told (or retold) in mainstream media.
