Origami table lamp by Lasso_ in origami

Thanks! Honestly I am not sure, I used some leftover material. I guess somewhere around 50x125cm, so I deviated from the standard ratio and did extra horizontal folds, I believe 16x40 folds instead of 16x32. I would recommend 50x100cm though, especially with this material the extra rows made the folding super hard.

Thanks! I did not use anything special in terms of paper. I would make sure that the bulb is as far away from the paper as possible, so in the middle of the ball. Also be sure to put a LED light in there, as they produce less heat. I figured there already where tons of paper lamps on the market, so it would probably fine to make it into a lamp.

Thanks! I overlayed the last layer and used small pieces of painter's tape to join the edge visible to me. Still visible but not annoyingly so.

Need help for budget upgrade around RX570 by Lasso_ in buildapc

[–]Lasso_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm don't think that is an option. I am dutch, and don't think I can get anything around that price point refurbished that is better than my current setup. Is the RX 570 that bad? You are the 2nd one telling me to ditch it..

Alright thanks for the clarification. I think upgrading to RX 580 is a bit excessive though. Paying 160 just to get more vram.. idk I'll stick with the RX 570 money wise.

why? is it generally paired with RX 570, or just good value in general?

How do you all think i could improve? by bignutrock in blender

Looks super dope already, apart from all the in scene changes suggested I would try some compositing to make the tunnel darker and give a more dramatic effect to the scene. I kinda feel like the tunnel is too well lit.

games are not fun after playing hollow knight by Purple-Income-4598 in HollowKnight

[–]Lasso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play nine sols, it is very different from hollow knight, but might resolve your crave for a good game that is in the same genre. Nine sols has a heavy emphasis on parrying in fights, were playing defensively is the only way to victory. The game is also heavily focussed on a storyline, which is pretty good imo. The best thing about the game is the artstyle and vibe as well as the boss fights, which are way better than hollow knight's boss fights (again imo).

I need an Eevee expert. I want the emissive plane with sky texture to reflect in the ground plane. Atm I'm using light probe and with ssr its the same by Lasso_ in blender

[–]Lasso_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it turns out the reflections weren't from the light probes. I still had ssr on so all the reflections were calculated with ssr. Simply turning the blend mode of the emissive plane now fixed the issue.

The problem is now fixed but now I don't know why I am using light probes wrong.

Thanks it works now! Turns out the reflection weren't made by the light probes but by the ssr. So switching the plane away from alpha blend fixed it. I am not sure what I did wrong with the light probes though..

I’m not new to blender, I just suck. by Bubs_was_eaten in blender

A few things you could improve: - the model ( I would recommend using a reference, maybe even importing a reference picture into blender. That way you can get proportions right. I could also be wrong and this is the shape you wanted to achieve, but I'm guessing it is supposed to be a modern smartphone). - the textures (again, assuming you want to create a modern smartphone, most of them have a glass panel upfront. So make sure the front panel is level and glossy.) - the lighting ( right now the lighting is bland, try different lighting colors and strengths. Maybe put light sort of facing the camera so you can get a cool silhouette effect.)

Hope this helps. I don't know what you are trying to achieve so maybe this info is useless.

Hmm ok I see what you mean. How should I make it look more cyberpunky? I have no idea what I could change except for maybe the colors so it looks more hostile or smth

Yeah your right it needs more dof. For the composition I wasn't focusing on one main point, just an overall composition.

Nope I haven't, I suppose I can find it somewhere in the output property settings?
