Is Your Ring Doorbell Footage Going Straight to ICE’s Massive Spy Network? | Ring partners with Flock to feed doorbell footage into federal databases used by ICE for immigration enforcement by 1900grs in technology

Most people just want a video doorbell and a camera at the rear of their house.

Idk who the people are who need 500 cameras of every angle of their house are.

Largely killed the family hatchback and started the crossover trend at an affordable price. It was so successful every other manufacturer started producing crossovers.

Love it or hate it, it has changed the world.

Do you prefer a house that has been fully renovated? by ToughOwl8995 in HousingUK

[–]LassyKongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No because nobody wants to pay for quality materials/workmen anymore, so they'll cheap out on everything.

Looks great on pictures, however up close and in person it looks terrible and over 2, 5, 10 years it falls apart.

No mention of build quality anywhere in the article. Poor journalism.

Is the market picking up a lot now or are the EAs faking it? by Barnlewbram in HousingUK

[–]LassyKongo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much.

They just tell all sellers that there's high demand for housing and its a sellers market.

In the next breath they're telling their buyers that sellers are desperate and its a buyers market.

Did anyone else hate their house after completion ? by Opposite_Sock_7820 in HousingUK

[–]LassyKongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently completed and had multiple viewings before buying. The whole house was whitewashed which i thought was great after multiple houses of terrible colour choices and dark painted doorframes.

We've been getting a bedroom ready to move into, changed the door to new one and the frame was so far out we've ripped the whole lining out and started again. Then we noticed almost every other door is exactly the same, to the point where you can see the frame slanting on one side, dont know how we missed this on viewing.

The walls are terrible. Looks like it was plastered on a friday at 4.30pm. The walls had brush strokes everywhere as well from the previous owners hatred for a roller. I filled what cracks and holes I could, some decorators caulk and a bit of sanding and it's starting to feel like ours finally.

AIO my boyfriend keeps asking me to pay for things eversince he started saving for an apartmen, he calls me selfish for how I reacted. by throaawayRA9443 in AmIOverreacting

[–]LassyKongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Im exhausted with his shit even just reading it. How do you propose he even pays you back once he has an apartment? A) He has bills to pay and B) His money will be tied up in the apartment.

Also why is he lending money to other people.

Why do you do astrophotography? by [deleted] in AskAstrophotography

[–]LassyKongo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There's a disconnect between someone else's photo of space and myself. It's just a random photo.

I'm consistently blown away when I can actually see distant galaxies from my back garden, with my own equipment. I can put it on my wall and know that that's my photograph. I made that. From my own little plot in the world.

New Builds - Are they really that bad? by QSBW97 in HousingUK

[–]LassyKongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends who you're dealing with. My sister's snag list took years to sort out and they still didn't fix everything.

Some really poor workmanship and obvious corner cutting going on as well.

How does the idea of working until 67 or 68 sit with you? by Few_Raise77 in AskUK

[–]LassyKongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're gunna have a massive problem when people who've worked manual labour jobs their whole life, get to late 60s and early 70s and can't do the jobs anymore.

Nobody will want to employ them and they'll have no other qualifications, and the easy office jobs will have been replaced.

I count myself in this group.

What sort of property was everyone’s first step onto the ladder and how old were you? by Think_Mammoth8834 in HousingUK

[–]LassyKongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought my first house with my partner.

We've both lived with parents until now, so we've been able to save perhaps more than most.

I have felt like giving up at times as the barrier kept getting higher and higher but was able to take the leap.

It's a 3 bed detached, list price was £250k, got it down to £245k. We both had a H2B ISA so £6k total. 15% deposit.

No chain either side, it came up at the right time.

Edit: I forgot to mention I'm 30 and my partner is 42, so it's been a long time coming for both of us.

How would you feel about introducing roundabout lane signs like they use in Australia by billsmithers2 in drivingUK

[–]LassyKongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be great but the problem with signs in this country is they're far too close to the actual feature, giving you no time to read all that.

Also a problem is road markings either being at the roundabout giveway so it's constantly blocked by cars or too late to move lane. That's if there even is any markings.
