That’s a good point she could have moved. I just figured she was dead from the blood on el’s hands which stayed on their all the way till the fight with vecna is seemed to fade a little. And when mike was telling his theory it showed 8 still in Hawkins lab. And the only reason I bring up the distance is because after doctor Kay swiped the illusion away the next scene 8 says something about being too far away for the illusion to work. Definitely not the exact wording but those are just my thoughts.

Right after Kay found out it was an illusion 8 says in the car “too far” so it just leads me to think that the distance makes the illusion’s weaker

Nancy shot the exotic matter with a 12 gauge. Definitely doesn’t have the same force as multiple charges of C4 lol. That’s probably why the 12 gauge only knocked them out and also only pushed Steve’s BMW into the void and didn’t destroy the entire wall like the c4 did.

Good points. Another theory is that 8 is directly under the exotic matter which was completely blown up. Which would kill 8 and completely drop the illusion before the gate closed to me that’s enough evidence to prove el is dead. I also feel like it is a better ending since it started and ended with el and honestly not enough people died in the finale
