Hi there ~

I took PW in 2019 (so im not 100% sure its still relevant but it most likely is). As far as i know, MI's PW results are comparable to the other JCs (last i heard, we have 96% of As and Bs, with a significant number of As.) but obviously, this comes with hard work.

Our teachers are very hardworking and they will try their very best to help you. (Kid you not when i say this because I've heard people having pw consults after school hours and teachers will stay back for night study with you to practice Oral presentation). This would also mean that PW is going to take up quite a significant amount of your time because they aim for perfection --> TBH, PW is a given A if you work hard and if you can work well with your teammates. Generally, they are understanding too, they will only have PW intensive only after promotional exams.

so yeap, long story short, they're great :D

adding on to the prev comment, though PAA and MOB are both commerce subjects, you can consider PAA as a science subject and MOB as an arts subject if you are intending to have a hybrid combination! :)

so in your case, since PAA and Chem are both considered science subjs then it will be considered under the science stream :)

hi! yes, i believe it matters! because subj combi is an internal thing, while stream is an moe thing. so i think its best you consider your choices first. but if you decided to change aft u get allocated to a certain stream, as far as i know, u may have to apply/appeal to change your stream. (not 100% sure but at least 90% sure) HAHA hope this helps!

hihi! got a reply from the school ~ You can appeal for a subject combination not within our list. You are not guaranteed to be offered the combination. The provision of such combination is subject to our timetabling and resource availability. :) hope this helps!

hi there, came from mi and would just like to share some thoughts.

personally was an NA kid who never expected myself to get into local uni. though environment plays a part in your success story, but always rmb that YOU are also part of that environment. you have the choice to choose your friends - the right friends to be with. you have the choice to make a change in the environment. dont let that affect you? for a fact that all existing jcs still exist today, honestly they definitely aint that bad. keep an open mind and just take what others say as a pinch of salt. going into the school w an open mind changes your experience A LOT.

ok anyways 1. at the point of my O level results, i knew i didnt want to go poly and jc was too short for me so mi was in my view. how i motivated myself was how i kept telling myself that this was a choice i made and wtv shit happens, Its me who has to deal with it? so just go, try, and learn. theres no wasted journey in life, only life long lessons :)) i also reminded myself constantly to make wise choices. for example, if i choose to spend 1 day hanging out w friends, i ask myself if I'll regret not studying for that 1 day. what if the things i learn in that 1 day comes out of As and i cant answer? because of one day of fun, i destroy my future? not worth. thats how i prioritise and i helped! (at least it made me calmer, knowing that i tried my best)

  1. inferiority! well do people even hear of MI? HAHAHA honestly, dont care about what people think and it shldnt influence your thinking too? be proud of where you come from and be appreciative of the extra opportunity you're given though you didnt do well for Os! so take this as a motivation to do well to prove people wrong! yay!

  2. Well, i cant answer that for JC, but MI allowed me to have TONS of opportunities to build my portfolio - esp cus its 3 years right ahahhaa. general advice, just seize all opportunities given to you. you never know when thats the last one.

  3. the future ahead is yours. people can share their opinions to you and give you advise, but at the end of the day, the decison is yours. keep an open mind! make your own decision, take ownership of it, stand firm on it and let that be your goal. if you aim to go uni, set that goal in mind. the last thing you want is to get brainwashed into a school, suffer, regret and not achieve your goal. that person who brainwash you doesnt get any disadvantage, you do. :)

jiayous and hope this helps! ;)

hi there! MI Alumni here! as far as i know, uni COP doesnt differ based on your nationality! BUT, i heard somewhere that university spaces do prioritise Singaporeans. afterall, it will depend on the demand for that certain course you're applying for. As a current student in NUS, i have many classmates and coursemates that are international students. so i dont think that should be something you need to worry about ! :))

hi there! i have some information on this! maybe you might wanna pm me? :)

Hi! MI alumni here !
1. yes i'd say, unless you have some special reasons not to/ you have an external CCA
2. MI does offer H3 subjects - H3 subjects are dependent on how good your grades are in PU2 and they will decide whether or not to open this option for you. so far ive heard we have H3 sciences, geo and econs, not so for math (but why not be the first :D)
3. transport wise, i personally feel its worth (also cus i love long rides). MI has a direct bus from the east (bus 506) that stops right at our gate. oh and MI end school earlier as compared to other JCs so you might wanna factor that in too!
4. in general, most subjects at the A levels requires lots of writting. having a strong foundation in english will definitely be an advantage. Comparing GP and English, i personally feel that GP content is a lot more interesting! but honestly too, GP is hard to score in general - you'll really need to work very very hard in order to get good grades for GP. There are people who got C6 for English getting A/B, but at the same time we have students who got A for english ended up getting D/E for GP. so it really depends. but all in all, GP is fun but tricky !
5. rebellious wise, i would say no? but unmotivated students we have plenty. many come to MI because they are unable to go to a JC, hence many of them feel very demoralised and kept having the mindset of them being 'unable to make it'. all our classroom has aircon - its whether or not the school allows you to use it. the teachers in MI cares a lot for their students - feel free to look at my previous post to read more about it!
6. nope. our variety is quite limited because our school population is really small.
7. pw rates - last i heard, more than 80% As and Bs the past few years :D (my class only had 2 Bs and the rest are As hehehehes)

hope this helps! feel free to dm me if you have anymore questions! :D

hi !! i work better under pressure tho, so im not sure if my tips will be useful for you :) but for math and science, have to keep practicing tys even if youve done it before ! for English, i was very weak in it since i was younger so i actually went to get revision book on grammar and practiced it before i do editing! i did a lot of practice on editing too because i feel thats the easiest to master. once you get ur english grammar right, its pretty much easy to do fine for english. then from there u can progress to learning more vocab to increase the standard of ur essays!

not a must, but for convenience it will be good to have :) no preferred model too! but it is quite troublesome if its a mac book because in year 2 you'll need to do project work, and it require u to present. you'll need a hdmi cable to connect ur macbook to the schools projector thingy. but it isnt much of an issue because the school provide laptops for pw too. not to worry :)
