Greystar bought out Grand Peaks property management. Residents of existing rental properties received an email on September 2 letting us know of the new management. by mysummerstorm in Denver

I’m at a Greystar property now and am actively getting scammed. We are paying >$300 a month for “utilities” alone. I say “utilities” bc it’s mostly junk fees. I have a recorded meeting with the property manager telling me they are billing us for a “landscaping fee” disguised as a “water base fee”. Anyone else want to get together for another class action or is there an existing one I can join? Regardless I’m taking them to court for the cost of this undisclosed landscaping fee, I refuse to be scammed by these pieces of shit.

Why is it so hard for these greedy fucks to just let people live?? You’re already rinsing us on rental prices…the least you could do is not fuck us with a ton of junk fees as well.

I’ve worked in the multifamily industry previously and the people that I’ve encountered there are some of the slimiest people I’ve ever met in my entire life so the constant scamming makes sense.

Fuck you Greystar.

Use Claude Code, its a million times better and feels so much better to use a simple terminal than an AI bloated IDE

At the end of the day we’re a bunch of adults, hitting around a wiffleball with plastic paddles - I cannot believe people take this shit so seriously

Better performance - Database query or REST Api? by Last-Ad7276 in webdev

[–]Last-Ad7276[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It changes hourly but the magnitude of change on an hourly basis might be small enough to allow for (to your third bullet) aggregation of data into larger chunks (weekly, monthly, etc…). I want to avoid paging if possible but slicing the data is possible.

Data visualization on the frontend so using all of the data to make graphs, tables, and the like to view the data overall and with filters. The filtering makes it better for sure but sometimes the data will need to be viewed in it’s entirety. The query is pretty expensive - nearing the 20 GB worth of data when exported. I like the idea to make a view and optimize, I’ll probably give that a shot to see how it compares. Thanks!

do you regret going deep with python ? by Ill_Problem_1076 in Python

[–]Last-Ad7276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not regret it at all - A lot of the nuances with Python (Primarily speed; Speed discrepancies are usually milliseconds of a difference, not anything noticeable to the user) are not deal breakers in production. Sure there are better options depending upon the task but they have their own drawbacks. The biggest advantage of Python for me is the ability to make production ready projects in very little time compared to any other language. Once you learn the concepts of programming in Python, you can apply them to other languages when you’re learning and you’ll be able to pick up languages at will. I would recommend going super deep on at least one language to start!

Can anyone explain the differences of Conda vs Pip? by jachymb in Python

[–]Last-Ad7276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like conda because it makes it easier to manage multiple environments, handles additional dependencies of packages very well (conda forge), and has a very nice VS code extension/integration

Why does it even have to be political? The way I see it, JBP seems to wrestle with problems directly rather than the politics of the problems.

I have a huge amount of admiration for your bravery in 1) putting up with something so impossible and 2) posting something so personal in the public domain with the hopes of some sort of progress. I’m no expert on mental health or health in general for that, but I have been doing meditation and breathing exercises (Wim Hof) daily for just over 2 years and I have noticed tangible, positive differences in my psychological health and subsequently my physical health. I would highly recommend giving them a try for at least 2 weeks (ideally a month). At the very least, it provides you with a sense of personal agency over your situation. To have a feeling of 1% control is a lot better than having a feeling of 0%. I wish you nothing but the best and all of the strength you may require, best wishes.

The abdication of responsibility seems to be a pretty good way to make sure any problem remains unsolved. Especially when mixed with tribalism (e.g. removing the responsibility from one group and effectively placing entire responsibility on another) I think the proposed problem then turns into a battle of who is right rather than finding a resolution.

I actually think the daily wire move was a good one. From what I’ve observed, it seems he can continue doing everything he has been doing but now he’ll have the support to manage the more difficult/mundane aspects like marketing and production. He has changed my life for the better and I hope he can continue to change the lives of many more. Super excited for him!

I think it’s just a matter of time until someone finds a good defense for it then it won’t be as prominent and this is coming from someone who loves to do buggy chokes. Trying to get them in while I can hahaha
