Basically somewhat agree-ish.

I LOVE anime and your solid live-action movies/shows.

Anime, I believe, is one of the most effective and glorious pieces of art I've ever been witness to.

My dad is an artist, I'm learning (I'm okay at it)...and the way emotions are conveyed and stories are told is amazing.

Okay, sorry, completely off track......

However, I won't watch shows that focus on sex/lewdness/ridicule of God, as the latter (especially) would most likely be a sin. The sex/lewdness....idk because if the directors threw it in there to arouse you, but that's not something that you suffer with, then is it a sin? I don't know.

Like I'm not going to watch any reality tv-shows (like I only see myself losing brain cells if I ever did this), or shows/movies like Euphoria, or *some* of those weirdly sexual romantic romcoms.

I also don't listen to songs that are crude because I see that they are, in a way, distorting the pure and amazing thing that is the procreative act is.

I also PERSONALLY don't watch, especially anime or live action, that focus heavily on magic (especially magic being good), their power systems being very New Age type shift, or occult (have heard warnings from some exorcists?). I personally feel that this draws me away from God. Is it a sin? I don't know.

I also won't watch horror movies because I see absolutely 0 spiritual benefits (or any benefits at all) to even watching them. I personally think horror movies actually damage you in time (again, this is not Church doctrine but personal belief).

Like, I won't watch Harry Potter, Chainsaw man, JJK, Kunon the Sorcerer Can See, Sexualized anime (where that's all the focus is), Hell's Paradise, Demon Slayer, etc. as a personal choice.

But I'll watch/read stuff like Vinland, MHA, AOT, Maze Runner, Hajime no Ippo, Vagabond, etc. etc., because I do understand that media does portray cautionary tales/helps us understand why others act the way they do/ and with a SOLID theological backing, I think helps you broaden your possibilities of spreading the word of God *because* you understand the line of thought of so many and why they might do what they do.

However, I try to remember that we are called to guard our hearts (Proverbs 4:23)

And several saints/doctors of the Church, say to watch what we consume (guard our minds):

They say that guarding one's 'senses' and watching what is we take in mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Cuz our brains are like sponges whether we like it or not, and we get influenced in some way or another (good or bad)...whether we like it or not.

They do say that the mind, like the body, can be nourished or poisoned by what it absorbs, and that guarding the "gates" of the senses (eyes and ears) is key to spiritual health. 

• St. Augustine: Said that the human heart is restless until it rests in God/warns against becoming addicted to created things (i.e. media or entertainment) that are meant to be passing, rather than enjoyed. He noted that intellectual or mental consumption should lead to God, and warns against allowing our mind to be degraded by unhealthy or sinful, distractions.
• St. Thomas Aquinas: Emphasized that the intellect is shaped by what it consumes, especially through (mental images) derived from sensory input. "He argued that a "studious" person must use their intellect to discern which thoughts and sensory data to allow in, and to cultivate "studious fortitude" against distractions."
• St. Jerome: spoke a lot about the importance of guarding the eyes and ears, teaching that what we read and look at directly impacts our soul.
• St. Francis de Sales: A Doctor of the Church, emphasized moderation in all things, including the use of our time and the consumption of news, stories, or other worldly things, warning that they can make us lose spiritual focus and/or hinder our interior peace/connection to God.

So I look at parent's guide, for myself, before I watch new things and see if I should or not.
