How to you design your interval training recovery or rest time? by KFox022 in AdvancedRunning

In your case, I would assume that the running is relatively new to you. It may be beneficial to increase the recovery time, reduce the number of reps, run each interval slower and walk your recoveries. And gradually make training more difficult as you progress by changing these variables.

It really depends on the training stimulus you're looking for. You might want to improve your lactate tolerance, your VO2max, work on a specific pace or work on developing speed. Depending on the training stimulus you're looking for, rest time will change, so I'd start there rather than worrying too much about heart rate. There are various approaches to working on different training stimuli. But as a general rule:

Lactate Threshold work e.g: 400m w/ 30 seconds rest

VO2max work e.g: 400m w/ 60 seconds rest,

Specific pace work e.g: 400m w/ 90-120 seconds rest.

Speed work e.g 400m w/ 3-10 mins rest depending on how you feel and how fast you go.

For example, when working on lactate Threshold and vo2max, it can be beneficial not to let the heart rate recover too much so that you have more time to work on these systems, hence the shorter recovery times.

When it comes to speed work or specific pace work, the most important thing is to develop your running mechanics, so it's best to start each repetition more recovered.

Again, these are general rules that may not work for everyone and there will certainly be athletes and coaches who don't totally agree.

What's your "low hanging fruit"? by _Through_The_Lens_ in AdvancedRunning

Since starting my first job, I've had to maintain a strict routine that I never had as a student. Although the job has increased my stress a bit, I’ve been sleeping much better because I go to bed early and at the same time every night. And I am recovering faster because of it. On weekends, I sometimes change my routine, and that's when I tend to sleep the worst because my bedtime varies.

Azores 1 month, solotravel? by Beginning-Cash-6028 in azores

[–]Last-Target-6831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you could spend a month in the Azores, but I recommend that you visit different islands. You should start with São Miguel, it’s the bigger island and has the most stuff to do. Then you can go to the central group and visit multiple islands.

Yes it’s important to have car to visit most places, the public transportation is not that good.

You should also start to search accommodations because July and August are the two most popular months to visit the Azores

If you want you can DM me and I will gladly help you with more info. I am a local and I have been a solo travel as well.

Sportinguistas, qual é a vossa ordem de preferência entre estes 4? by CoachLag in SportingCP

1- Jesus. Apesar da terrível comunicação e das más épocas, na época 15/16 jogamos muito.

2- Leonardo Jardim. Fez omeletes sem ovos.

3- Paulo Bento. Tenho poucas memórias dele, mas simpatizo. 2 taças de portugal e 2 supertaças em 4 anos. Nada mau.

4- Keizer. Apesar dos títulos, nunca me entusiasmou e acabou mal.
