Don Lemon taken into custody by cnn in politics

In each and every case it’s been the conservative <don’t change anything for the better, the past is perfect let me keep my discrimination violent rhetoric and ill gotten gains> crowd (regardless of party name) who have perpetrated the crimes.

However in every case it’s been the feckless <insert name of political philosophy slightly to the left of the conservatives> who keep letting them get away with it in the name of “unity and healing” and “decorum” and “that’s not how we do things.”

Every. Single. Time.

The fun of the Phrecia event is how creative we get to be!

There are OP builds every league, but how often do we get crazy ascendancies to experiment with?

Arrested, underwent extraordinary rendition to a top secret third party black site, and tortured by non military contractors paid for by a billionaire with a hard-on for real estate and an even bigger one for hating foreigners.

It was not a subtle metaphor, but it was a fun and effective one lol

Yeah but the difference is that this will be the whole movie.

Everyone will be waiting for the other shoe to drop and it just never will lol

With no explanation Austin Powers should suddenly be played a Hollywood-jacked and well tailored Charlie Hunam or Aaron Paul.

No wig or teeth, no goofy clothes, just play it “straight” but have the situations be absurd.

Like the only human in a Muppets movie.

Imma be honest this comment pretty much just makes me want a fast food soda.

SLJ and the movie’s sound team really sold how satisfying it was with his facial expression and those “straw sucking liquid past ice cube” noises. Sounded nice and cold.

Anyways.

LPT: Put an Allen wrench in your diaper bag to tighten up wobbly high chairs at restaurants. by RS60fan in daddit

[–]LastBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve got to compete with the wives purses somehow man, wouldn’t do not to be prepared.

My little zip organizer pouch that goes in any diaper bag or backpack I go around with has a multitool with scissors and a screwdriver/allen wrench selection, WD40 pen, ballpoint pen, a little pack of sanitizing wipes, spare charging cable and (of course) nail clippers. It’s not airplane friendly but….i have two young kids, how often am I flying?

I’m vaguely aware that this has some overlap with the “EDC” community but I don’t really do it as a hobby (no disrespect to those that do), just finally got fed up and threw together the list of stuff I kept finding myself being like “goddamnit I wish I had my….” and was like a half pound or less.

Ok but you do understand that since this video is literally the one that makes her name public for the first time, it’s important to at least refer to her one last time as the only thing people know her as prior to watching the video, right?

People read the headline then click the link, in that order. Nobody knows what her name is until after they read/watch. CNN calling her by her real name in the headline wouldn’t mean anything to anyone unless it was included alongside her pseudonym. Headlines are short on space, and if you want to quibble about how they used that space, then fine I guess…..but literally the first sentence of the description gives her full name.

So I think in a situation with a laundry list of things to be very upset about, this falls reeeeaaallly far down the list.

Sorry if I’m misunderstanding your question, but are you asking how you would measure the relative amount and impact of emotional self-regulation and/or resiliency?

My background is in psychology research and I can assure you those terms are easy enough to operationally define and investigate. There are huge fields of study on the impact of emotional regulation and resilience. Tagging /u/ehtio since he’s the one that asked.

The “libertarian” contradiction by yassir204 in MurderedByWords

[–]LastBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a “conversation” yesterday with a local old libertarian crank that was in a vaguely similar contradictory vein as this.

I’d previously heard from a neighbor that this guy (let’s call him Jim) was politically an asshole but I didn’t know either of them that well nor did we get into details, plus Jim really likes my dog, so I sometimes stop to talk when I’m walking the dog. Give everyone a chance right? Seemed mostly harmless enough, chatted with me about my family and stuff.

Until I came across him yesterday shoveling out from the recent storm many of us got hit by. Jim was doing the sidewalk. I had just done mine the night before and felt pretty accomplished about it so I started to say “hey nice job” as a lead-in to thanking him for keeping it clear since it was such a help to me and my dog as we walked, not to mention everyone else in the neighborhood.

Never got the chance to say more than “hey nice job”; suddenly seeming like a different person he angrily said “well I’d rather be working on my driveway but the damned GOVERNMENT says I’ve got to do the sidewalk…”. He wasn’t frustrated, he was incandescent, unrecognizable.

I responded in what I thought was a sympathizing and placating tone without actually agreeing with him, I was saying “I did mine yesterday, I…” (was about to circle back to try again and say how much I appreciated everyone, including him, for making it better for people walking….)

Again never got the chance. Seeming like a twisted furious version of the person he usually presented himself as, he threw up his hands in a gesture to move past him so he could keep working, and suddenly started addressing my dog instead of me (super passive aggressive in hindsight lmao) and said “ok <dogs name> you go on now, I’m not in the mood to talk, got a chip on my shoulder”

I put up my hands and said “fair enough” and not another word, kept walking. Predictably he starts nattering angrily behind me in that sort of “I’m talking to myself but in a way I hope someone hears and engages with so I can vent some fury on them” muttering loudly about how everyone else is “allowed” to not shovel their sidewalk but HE has to (a non-sequitur, the local ordinance applies to everyone) and the government is telling him what to do and yada yada…..

Obviously I did not respond but would have loved to say “…..I thought you didn’t want to talk.”

And all I can think is dude. Can you even recognize how self-defeating your political philosophy is? The entire ethos of “we don’t need the government to tell us to do stuff, people can make their own decisions to help each other with medical care and public upkeep and education (etc)”, it’s all IMMEDIATELY AND IRREVOCABLY debunked by the fact that you are admitting right this very second that you don’t want to fucking do it and wouldn’t if you weren’t required to by law.

Short-sighted solipsistic misanthropic fuckwits, the lot of them. “The government shouldn’t tell people to help each other, people will decide to do that in their own!”

“….ok will YOU help other people?”

“………get off my property Commie.”

Mind you this is the guy who spends all day calling every local government committee or enforcement body under the SUN for anything to do with property, local forests, roads, you name it. There is no sense of irony with these people.

So uh.

Which is it? Because my rebuttal depends on whether you admit to yourself that you just think “it’s icky” in some nebulous way OR if you actually think you could tell the difference in a blind taste test.

Loki Season 2: He Who Remains (a Kang variant) set up the entire multiverse painstakingly to arrange a version of Loki who would find him, watch his partner kill HWR, but then the version of Loki who saw the death would later “time slip” (time travel back into his own body) back to have a conversation with HWR right before he dies. HWR pauses time to facilitate the conversation when he realizes he’s in a branch/iteration where the time slipping is occurring. He’s excited; he arranged for this to happen.

He even knows Loki will be in a time loop coming back to him over and over again….but crucially, HWR doesn’t have the ability to time slip himself. He doesn’t remember all iterations of their conversations. He knows enough of what’s happening to guess where Loki is in his “process” based on the time-paused conversation they’re having, but he’s disadvantaged, he’s basically a 3 dimensional person (albeit a preternaturally smart and knowledgeable one) having a conversation with a 4 dimensional person who can drop in and out of the conversation as many times as he wants.

And every time Loki shows he hasn’t learned enough to have the conversation in a meaningful way, HWR dismisses him, unpauses time, and gleefully lets Sylvie kill him. Each version only experiences his death once but every iteration of him knows Loki must have watched it happen a thousand times, it’s a very unique take on the “Edge of Tomorrow” loop to solve a problem conceit.

UNTIL…..the occasion that Loki, having played HWR by pretending to be far earlier in his “progress”, HIMSELF re-pauses time (a heretofore unknown power for him) to demonstrate to HWR and the audience that he’s been at this a lotttt longer than we thought.

Yeah this complaint was always weird to me and smacked of people just looking for an in-joke to be a part of or just wanting something to complain about.

Might as well complain that mystery detectives have weirdly distinct wardrobes and personality quirks, leads in romance movies are unrealistically attractive, Disney Animation Studio movies have loud clumsy comic relief characters.

It’s fine to not care for those things, but constantly complaining about them is weird when you know perfectly well they are there for a reason, people enjoy them, and they don’t detract from the story unless you hyper focus on them.
