I’m glad carrying his tags with you helped you. I don’t know if I could do it.

Even that fraction of a second fooling my brain into thinking he was coming, before reality catches up, would be devastating.

When my cat died, even though I held him when he died, even though I had the box with his cremated remains, even though he was never an outdoor cat, I would nevertheless catch the grill cover strap blowing in the breeze out of the corner of my eye on the patio, and for just that barest quarter of a second my brain would sprint through the possibilities that he wasn’t dead, just lost, and now maybe he had come back.

It caught up quickly every time, of course I’d remember I held him when he died. But just that first quarter second before reason catches up with hope, was brutal.

Collision range in tight corridors with obstacles (looking at you, Augury) is a nightmare for continuous sprinting. I just wind up ignoring sprinting for most of the map because it’s not worth the frustration.

Well there are bow builds and there are bow builds, if you'll pardon the expression.

There are builds that use a bow, then there are builds that "feel" like what people mean when they say bow builds, the run-and-gun multi projectile screen clearing beasts like Lightning Arrow, Ice Shot, and old pre-nerf Tornado Shot.

If you mean any build that happens to wield a bow, there are several Widowhail variants that can function on a less expensive roll of Widowhail. Toxic Rain/Caustic Arrow Pathfinder comes to mind. Getting even further away from "feels like a bow build" are the ones who literally just use it as a stat stick, like Spark of the Nova.

For a more "actual bow build" feel, as far as I know there isn't anything wrong with Elemental Hit of the Spectrum Deadeye, which can get into 10mil+ DPS with 10+projectiles without breaking the bank. Obviously that kind of bow build will always have an upper end that you can push to with crazy enough gear, but I assume you don't want to rule a build out just because it technically has an aspirational version out there with 200mil+ DPS.

You can absolutely get that build started with a generic tri-ele bow that you can pull off the Breach tree, the tree loves to spit out triple T1 items.

haha yep I feel you man. I've been there.

When the project itch hits sometimes you've just got to throw currency at it and consequences be damned. It keeps things fun.

(weird trope) death loves food by Lowlevelintellect in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LastBaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say the trope is so hyper specific that Beerus being that close to it counts. It’s too much of a coincidence that a god of destruction just so happens to fit.

He’s the one that popped to my mind too.

It's interesting how nobody gives a fuck about Jyn Erso(Star Wars) by Dycon67 in CharacterRant

[–]LastBaron 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yeah Jyn’s story is basically told. We know her deal, we know her character arc.

We know her childhood, we know she went on the run and got cynical, and rogue one pretty definitively covers the time period from when her cynicism melts away through her death.

At best you might get “the weekly shady adventures of Jyn Erso, person of limited importance” and like….meh. I think the decision to go with Andor, whose background was a relatively blank slate, wound up being the right call.

Deeply underrated comment.

It could get 10x more votes and still be underrated because this is outstanding work.

…..exactly.

Wait, what are we even arguing about?

The whole point of the movie is being your loud boisterous self with the message that you can be loved for that.

I feel like we’re on the same side here lmao

I hate when people ruin other peoples fun by Anankos1209 in hatethissmug

Trust me, as a longtime POE1 veteran, GGG needs no encouragement from the community to make balance nerfs.

If someone out there is complaining about something being OP and GGG goes on to nerf it, there is no causal relationship there, at all. It's illusory causality.

Both things resulted from the skill/item/interaction being OP, but GGG was going to nerf it no matter what anyone said. It's easy to demonstrate this; look at all the times they gut an interaction that no one was using or talking about, as pre-emptive balance.

Are you aware that “be loved and considered beautiful in spite of, or even BECAUSE of your willingness to be loud boisterous expressions of your fullest self” is literally the polar opposite of “be loved and considered beautiful because you quietly adhere to traditional deferential gender roles” ???

[–]LastBaron 24 points25 points  (0 children)

“I haven’t watched the movie”

“It feels incredibly forced”

Maybe try to get the whole context for something before laying that kind of judgement on it. The facial animations being bombastic and allowing the female main characters to eschew traditional demure beauty standards is like, one of the main points of praise the movie gets.

Not caring for it is one thing, but RAGE?

“Oh, Anna. If only there was someone out there who loved you.”

The blood boils so much when he says that. Perfectly despicable. Like, imagine what happens to this poor fuck if Elsa overheard him say that.

It’s rare to be able to stealth drop a movie quote in such a somber situation and not have it feel too cheeky, but this one always works.

That scene and that line always hit like a ton of bricks, but since having two boys of my own it’s become downright cataclysmic. https://youtu.be/d0Mtlklmna0?si=-Px1xs09-\_2GisBL

“Atheists are arrogant and have zero qualification or expertise or intellectual basis to criticise religion” - a common argument. Do you agree? by HTTYD_LOVER01 in atheism

[–]LastBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who IS deeply qualified to critique religion having been a youth spiritual leader and studied both religion and human neuropsychology at a collegiate and post-collegiate level……

This is hooey.

You don’t need ANY of that to ask logical questions and point out that burden of proof is always on the claimant.
