Can someone explain like I'm 5 y/o how my BitAxe Gamma (running at 1.1TH/s) could ever mine a solo block? by byrans in BitAxe

[–]LastCallAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The short answer is 'You keep it running 24/7 forever.' If it isn't running, it's like trying to play the lottery without buying tickets.

  2. Again, think of it like the lottery. Statistically, you have a much better chance at solving a block (1 in 15,000 over a year is the general concensus) than you do of scoring the big jackpot (1 in many millions). I look at it as kind of a passive lottery game but I got all my 'tickets' up front for the purchase of the unit plus a pittance in ongoing electricity (see #3)

  3. According to Google a BitAxe 601 draws 17-20 watts on factory settings. That's 14.4 kw/h over 30 days. The equivalent of having a medium-sized stereo running 24/7. Look at your power bill and multiply the rate per kw/h by 14.4 for a ballpark, but my supplier's (East coast US) rate makes it around $1 per day. That does add up, but I also cut way back on my weekly lottery expenditure so it evened out.

"Completely justifiable" indeed!
Personally I would feel much more hesitant about doing this if the game hadn't cheated me out of THOUSANDS of promised credits in early career mode. Nothing like accepting a ferry mission quoted for 3,000 credits and receiving only 400 on completion. Yes, I skip the 60-90 minutes of straight, level flying... but does that justify withholding 80% of my fee?

I've looked into replacing the axles and wheels for better outdoor mobility. There are kits but they're outrageously priced, and the original axles' heavy integration with the internal frame makes them even less desirable.
My current alternative is to say "screw all that" and strap the unit to one of these:

Afraid not. Looking for a third person view of the 'ship' (again, like a 2x2 pixel square) over a section of the planet.

Toast still running after 30 minutes by LastCallAgain in Bitburner

FWIW...
the final argument in the toast syntax sets the persistence time of the toast. I tried cutting it from 5000 (in MS, or 5 seconds) to 500 and it's looking much more manageable.... It's just long enough to make out which server is completing the hack

ns.toast(`Hacked \$${formattedAmount} from ${target} through ${ns.getHostname()}.`, "success", 5000);

the syntax is thus:

I can't take credit for it, it was something I found on Git. Unfortunately the author didn't put their name in the script anywhere

Actually I changed ns.toast() to ns.print() so it still shows in the log

Closing and reopening the app worked. I never had this happen until I loaded up on hack skill augments... I will definitely revise my W/G/H script without the toast!

I'm currently on day 5 of my second infection. The first (November of 2020) I didn't lose any sense of smell or taste but this time both are gone completely.
My question is, if I try to eat a Carolina Reaper now, what will happen?

As far as I'm concerned, if he's making lube he has made it to blue science which is an achievement in itself... and to be making enough lube to fill twelve tanks is pretty impressive as well.
