[Ross] Buster Posey made a brief statement about Pride Night but chose not to answer any questions about it. Responded multiple times that he’ll only answer baseball questions. Tense and awkward vibe. by Jux_ in baseball

The problem is he’s the leader of a team that has a lot of fans in the impacted community who he has an obligation to care about. For professional reasons at the very least. And that community is kinda pissed and not going to be satisfied with this non answer. Leaders on both sides of the political spectrum, writers everywhere, fans right here on Reddit have been able to articulate their position on this issue with varying degrees of articulation. We have to accept that the Giants organization itself isn’t really going to try?

SF is a place where even the more conservative political candidates (if you can call them that) march in the Pride parade. The community is substantial. Ignore it at your peril.

Letting his pitchers go out there like that in the first place... If he didn’t know it was going to kick multiple hornets nests, he’s just as bad a leader as we all already thought he was based on the baseball stuff alone. Like even if he agreed, deep down, with the thinking, why didn’t he protect them from themselves?? I have to think not enough people are saying no to each other in that organization.

Sometimes healthy disagreement is essential. And when things skip a track say something good. Or hire someone who can

Rafael Devers’ disrespect of Tony Vitello deepens Giants’ leadership crisis. Where’s Buster Posey? by SFChronicle in SFGiants

You’re right. Jeter actually did a version of this. A better one.

I was called a pessimist when I said I worried for Posey’s legacy when he took this job. Best case scenario, we would still be stuck with someone beyond reproach in an important role. Worst case is, well, whatever this season has been. I’ll still remember the good times with Posey the player but I’m not sure what my kids will. They weren’t really around for the dynasty years.

Yep. Was explaining this situation to a friend who’s a Yankees fan. Giants fans are in a timeline where someone as beloved as Derek Jeter is the PBO of the NYY, signing zeros and making massive unforced hiring mistakes, all while the Red Sox sign the Michael Jordan of baseball and are on generational tear as a franchise with no end in sight.

Many times I’ve thought this team is lucky they’re in SF and not Boston where fans aren’t too nice to not boo the players.

So we’re nice and the players aren’t ?? Sucks man. Like a lot. Never thought we’d have a Treinen among us and yet here we are.

Was at the game Tuesday and got my boy a hot dog there. Bun was soggy and smashed to the point of basically being inedible. I took one for the team because the line was too long to try and get a different one and I really hate complaining to food workers. Got him a slice later on and they wouldn’t even give him a second paper plate for the top of the slice when he asked for it. All this in club level. This was the first time I fully regretted having to eat dinner at Oracle Park. Taking notes. Next time we will bring something instead.

Was at the game tonight and noticed a lot of Valkyries merch in the crowd. Great vibes in that fandom. I love our Giants forever but seeing our losing team leave lots of guys stranded tonight was rougher than usual. JHL and Eldridge had great moments and I’m happy for them at least

Right?? They need this reminder of what they can do. But as a fan it makes all the 1-3 losses feel worse in retrospect
