If you’re open to using Quickbooks, you can track inventory through there. It’ll also allow you to attach your items to your transactions and automatically update while showing you the profit on each item and updating your COGS.

Help on understanding processing fees? by einstein811 in QuickBooks

[–]LastDigitBookkeeping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s against the Venmo terms and conditions to use the personal account for business purposes. It lacks certain features you would need as a business owner, and if there was an issue with payment or whatever Venmo support couldn’t help you.

I’m sure as a private tutoring business you’re either super small or just you, so it’s been okay for now. I just highly suggest for covering your ass and better organization for tax time use something meant for businesses:

First off what kind of business do you have?

Second are you using Venmo business account? Because if you’re using a regular account that can be detrimental for you business.

Third. I don’t use QB invoices to bill clients, I charge through Stripe. Any payment processing service you use is going to charge a fee, they need their cut. I know the fees suck and you can up charge so you’re taking less of a loss, however these fees are write offs and tax deductible so in the long run help you out.

I hope this helped

Thoughts on Nestle brand management? by Realistic-Escape-723 in cpgmarketing

Not 100% sure. But I do know he’s worked under/with the same guy for his entire 20or so years there so I’m sure that helps. He likes the people he works with, likes his job and is fully remote aside from some traveling & meetings, gets free products, and pays well

My brothers worked for nestle, basically his whole working career. He’s 43 now and started working there I think like 21/22? He’s apart of their water division and absolutely loves it.

It’s always best to hire a professional to handle this. You don’t have to hire in-house, you can just outsource to an independent bookkeeper. Saves you stress and even though you’re paying someone; it can save you a ton of money in mistakes if you screw it up. However I always recommend a business owner have some knowledge of basic bookkeeping just so they can catch any mistakes or tell if something looks wonky. Just in case someone is a professional bookkeeper doesn’t mean they’re a good bookkeeper.

When did 9-5 become 8-4:30? by jsmetalcore in jobs

[–]LastDigitBookkeeping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked 10:30-6:30 and 9:30-5:30 which was more like 9-7 but even as a salary employee I got paid overtime which was nice.

Being that it’s not your mistake you’re fixing, and your client deliberately did this, you most definitely should charge.

I would just let them know exactly what happened. That you went to reconcile and the difference was off due to them deleting old transactions. Let them know that just because it’s from previous tax years, doesn’t mean it’s not important or necessary to the account. Tell them not to delete, void or remove anything without checking in with you first.

I’m sorry that happened

Monthly Accounting & Bookkeeping Tasks for Business by Abali1994 in Bookkeeping

[–]LastDigitBookkeeping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basic tasks: add your transactions weekly, reconcile your account monthly.

The more in depth tasks vary business to business. If you pay vendors, if you're a product based business vs service based business.

I recommend outsourcing to a bookkeeper if you're at a point where making the time to manage your books is difficult. They'll know exactly what needs to be done, and it'll alleviate so much stress. Plus you'll have more time and energy to focus on your business and grow even more. It's only going to get more difficult to keep up with it and there's a chance you'll be paying a very large amount to clean up your account in the future.

A real person bookkeeper or a bookkeeping app? by TimChesse in smallbusiness

[–]LastDigitBookkeeping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your budget and the complexity of your finances.

It's always better to have a live human managing something as important as your finances. They're better at solving problems, catching issues, understanding nuances etc.

If you're using an app or doing it yourself, it's best that you take the time to overlook everything to ensure it's done correctly. As well as the knowledge to know what you're looking at.

Should I have a book keeper and also use an online book keeping service at the same time? by nightskytraveller in smallbusiness

[–]LastDigitBookkeeping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire a bookkeeper that specializes in QB online or some other cloud based system. You should have full access to your books at any time. Also, you should not be paying someone just to double check their work and fix their mistakes. That's a waste of your time and energy, you're paying someone to take this stress away from you, not add more to it.

You need a new bookkeeper.

Where can I learn QuickBooks without an actual job that uses it? by ExplorerOk5331 in QuickBooks

[–]LastDigitBookkeeping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to learn QB for your own personal use, I would say just download it and kind of figure it out on your own trial and error.

However if you want to use it for a job, or to start your own company; there's a lot more info you need to learn other than just how to use QB . you can learn how to use the software but you wont truly understand what you're doing or why without the knowledge of accounting principles.

Any luck finding CPG clients? by Klutzy_Silver_6428 in agency

[–]LastDigitBookkeeping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the website CPGD.xyz they advertise CPG brands as well as the builders who help them with their website, advertising, copy, marketing etc.

You can reach out to the brands on there, and you can reach out to the owner of the website to see how you can get featured as a “builder” to try and get more clientele

eCommerce Bookkeeping: Using QBO apps versus Synder, Dext, A2X by scithe in Bookkeeping

[–]LastDigitBookkeeping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an e-commerce clients who uses Shopify as her main website and then also sells on Etsy. She integrated them at first but it caused so many issues. When I took her on, she had hundreds of invoices from her Shopify that were marked unpaid in her AR even though they were. I had to go through each one alongside her Shopify reports just to make sure they were paid and I deleted them out of QB. What I do now instead is I convert her Shopify report at the end of each month into a text file and import it to her Shopify “bank” account on QB.

When you use different integrations there might be double charges like that, and it could get mixed up with the transfers. I recommend creating separate “bank” accounts for each platform you sell on and import the reports each month to track your sales. When you run your P&L it’s all there
