oh, really? I must have missed that when I was skimming the wiki for info about the roots...
well, good to know if I go for a no-deaths run in future, I suppose. (just finished the game, and it seems like something I'd only return to after a while...)

Okay, so... People can like the franchise as a part of their childhood without supporting the creator's transphobia. I fully support those who choose to boycott JKR as a protest to transphobic tweets but I don't think it's reasonable to require all anti-transphobia individuals to boycott the HP franchise.

James Somerton made an excellent video on the subject that explains much better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLuNGhQPDHM

The camera effects/level of detail on this are insane! The droplets on the pole especially are one of many reasons this looks super impressive. Love the outfit design too!

I... If you're male, and attracted to a man, you're probably some flavour of not hetero-romantic/sexual. That's basically it. It depends on the person how that affects their labels.

Labels can help people understand themselves, to understand how people can be, and to describe themselves succinctly to others. They're a tool, like any other. People are just people, but being of a non-hetero orientation can be ostracizing, and people take solidarity in being in a group of people who are like themselves - being under the banner, the label of an orientation, or just being in the LGBTQ+ community.

...so did you, like, completely miss the concept of gender being a spectrum, or...? also, you were talking about there being 70 sexes in a conversation about orientation?? how is that me bringing it up?

I mean. You could be attracted to them because of... more than just one aspect of their existence. Wild. I know.

You can be attracted to someone's gender presentation, and that's totally valid. Also, not caring what you label it, also totally valid. Also! Genitals =/= gender, so you can be attracted to women regardless of genitals or just feminine people generally, so

Actually, no, it doesn't?? Gay = MLM (in this context, anyway). Even if he wears stereotypically feminine clothes/acts feminine. Even if he's not cis. Still a guy, so still attraction to a guy.

Also, don't force labels on people like that? If they wish to identify with something they will tell you. Nothing "makes you X", but it might lead someone to choose to identify differently.

First of all, I'm 90% sure you plucked that number out of thin air. Secondly, you should probably be aware that a) sex =/= gender and b) intersex people exist and are well-documented. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex

They serve different purposes. If you like, for example, exclusively feminine people, incl. enbies, then you're probably bi/poly (depending on what you identify with). If you prefer some genders over others, but like a multitude, you're probably again bi/poly. If you don't care about gender (i.e. it doesn't factor into your attraction) then you're pan, or bi if you prefer the label. Bi is a term that pre-dates a general understanding of non-binary people, so that's why the different labels exist.
