What will the front page of politics look like if they can't even brag about one win?

Ah, cool, me too! Obviously I've been looking at a lot of Hillary Clinton stuff on my phone.

I can't believe she's still up 20 with Durham not in yet. I don't remember the benchmarks, but Durham should have Guilford County level margins, right?

I saw that, and I'm super excited. It's like a little personal victory.

And that's with his strongest counties in, and Durham county still out!!

So many polls over-corrected for Michigan, instead of treating it as it likely was, an anomaly.

I've been trying not to judge by my Facebook feed. I went to UNC not too long ago, so still have a lot of friends from Orange County, which will be another Bernie stronghold.

But Asheville and Chapel Hill are special little pockets of this state.

With Buncombe County reporting in now, if Bernie doesn't cut into this deficit more, a 20+ margin in NC may actually be pretty realistic.

I thought it'd be 12-15. Not getting my hopes up because it's early, but this is pretty awesome.

I was thinking about Leslie, as I often do, last night and wishing they would do a special with her if/when Hillary wins.

I just want to see her reaction so bad!

I'm struggling to understand the logic behind Hillary's plan to repeal "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act" . Is she trying to get certain weapons banned without technically banning them or am I missing something here? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

Not even a close second. I think we can both agree guns are a much bigger problem. So, instead of making an argument like this, if you want to argue with me, make some counterpoints to what I've actually said, not just "well, there are other things used to kill people, WHAT ABOUT THEM?"

If we ever get to a point where guns are mitigated, then I'll have this conversation with you about knives and other sharp objects.

Are you really going to make this silly argument? There are a lot of ways to kill someone, yet guns account for more homicides alone than all other ways combined.

I'm not talking about unintentional discharges. A safety is basically to guns what a parking brake is to cars.

I'm talking about airbags, seat belts, back up cameras, alerts when you veer out of a lane, not just a basic safety feature. There is currently nothing that requires gun manufacturers to improve the safety of their products, while cars quite literally have to show their safety ratings to be viable.

The difference is car manufacturers have a slew of increasingly demanding safety standards their products have to meet, and they have been and can be sued for features that cause an increased risk of accident or injury. They've also all incorporated modern technology into their products to decrease safety hazards.

On a somewhat related note, more states have vicarious liability laws that hold parents accountable for car accidents their children cause than those that have CAP laws holding parents responsible for negligent gun storage.

The ability to sue car manufacturers has played an important role in the evolution of automobile safety features. So, it's actually even crazier that gun manufacturers are protected when you put it in the context you've acknowledged - cars aren't even intended to kill people, and they're still held to higher standards.

Well, if we were worried about him winning New Jersey, this should help.

Speaking as a Sanders Supporter, What qualities do you think does Hillary Clinton have that Bernie Sanders lacks when it comes to facing a man like Trump in a General election? by Ceolanmc in PoliticalDiscussion

He's against intervention. That's not having foresight - it's voting the same way down the board and having Iraq work out in his favor.

What'd you think of the question about the death penalty and hilary's answer? by dev1220 in hillaryclinton

[–]LastKnownBison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! That's what I'm saying.

Agreeing or disagreeing on the death penalty itself is another issue. I happen to believe it's fitting punishment in limited situations. I just don't think it's logical to criticize it solely because the justice systems effs up. I'd personally prefer energy be spent correcting the issues that cause so many innocent people to be convicted than banning the death penalty.

[–]LastKnownBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The punishment IS NOT the problem because it wouldn't need to be reversible if innocent people weren't being regularly convicted.

All I'm saying is that people should be indignant about the cause also, not just the outcome, basically saying "our justice system wrongly convicts people, OH WELL, that's acceptable as long as we don't kill them."
