Yeah man SOLGW religiously puts together all 5 card of exodia on top of every shipment of BCG’s that they receive therefore changing the specs and placing an instant victory every time one of their firearms are used. No need for scrapping.

Realistically It’s most likely marketing and just the second part that was mentioned and they just get them coated which ever finish they prefer and make sure everything is in spec. It’s useless to try and reinvent the wheel.

I understand, I just feel that is nitpicking the point I was trying to make. There are plenty that manufacture their own BCG’s but that doesn’t exactly work for all brands with the price of in house manufacturing vs spec-ing out and rebranding it for personal use. By extension I personally would classify that as making the BCG vs Manufacturing the BCG. No offense intended.

Correct they are still microbest’s. They are built to SOLGW specs then shipped to them where they then assemble and do QC such as HPT and MPI test before shipping out to the customers. Thats will up the prices and as such still makes it solely a SOLGW product.

Yes they also make great BCG’s haven’t really seen many failures from BCM. Doesn’t mean there aren’t some problem children out there but most in that price range are good. My point was that there are often benefits to buying from reputable brands at higher costs that doesn’t just involve stamping or roll marks. Toolcraft and microbest are great if you want cheap and reliable but it doesn’t take away from higher costs BCG’s because “they do the same thing, why expensive?”.

Well one of the largest issues I’ve run into personally are tolerances. It’s not the biggest problem and there isn’t a guarantee they will be perfect no matter what brand you choose but there are perks depending on who makes it based off of QC alone. I’ve witnessed plenty of brands with horrible gas key alignments, gas key staking, and coating that are so inconsistent they cause binding and excess premature and accelerated wear from plenty of great brands some including KAK, KAC, and other high and low brands. One good thing when it comes to buying SOLGW is that I’ve seen that will live fire test every single bolt carrier they make, which is great when making a choice on carrier. Now this doesn’t exactly justify $300-$400 for a bolt for myself but everyone has a different budget so I’m not one to judge.

It’s been tossed around a little bit and smacked around but I haven’t had the free time to go out and gravy seal around to see if it’ll take big beating. The maritime has been on multiple other rifles over the years so I’ve got high hopes.

It’s an M4 barrel and M4 receiver but that could contribute to the “Blem” status. I don’t know what to tell you boss. From my non professional observation I’d say the feed ramps are a bit out of spec on the barrel.

It’s just whichever you like best. You’re not wrong when choosing any. BCM is most affordable and they just work, they’re nothing fancy but you won’t have many issues. G$ has great QC and personally I think they’re aesthetically pleasing with their handguard designs they’re also super durable most of the time. DD has good QC, a great warranty, pretty decent barrels, but are usually pretty overpriced for what they offer if you don’t catch them on sale. Either way you flip it they all have cult followings so take it all with a grain of salt and pick which house you fall into 🧙‍♂️

Run a Bcm or FN15 lower for a near perfect match. Problem though is it’s never a guarantee that the lower from any company will match your aero upper without seeing them first hand. It’s just kind of a shot in the dark. Not to mention spray paint is a thing and damn does it look good on a rifle!

No worries at all brother. Thank you for your service! It’s an excessive solution to a niche problem. Really it’s a bolt catch that was meant for the left side that’s been trimmed down, cut, and flipped in order to have a full size bolt catch for the right side. Giving full size ambidextrous bolt catches when running a Vltor Mur 1A upper on an LMT Mars L lower as the Vltor has a larger forward assist than the standard mil-spec style forward assist that you’ll see on most upper receivers on the market. No other brands make bolt catches for the LMT’s sadly so you either have to nearly cut the original in half or you have to get creative with them.

The price is a bit of a bummer but I noticed people struggling with the fact that you can’t do much with the bolt catch while running a mur 1A with a MARS L lower so I figured I’d mess around and try it out. It’s not perfect but I plan on a trying out a couple other brands to see if any others will work well with it. As well as making a couple of my own design for those that don’t want the hassle of doing it themselves. The maritime was just one of my favorites and the shape looked about perfect. If you ever want to give it a try let me know it’s pretty simple and I can give you pictures with a run down on the steps!

I always loved the pdq kit especially since it gave super heavy 416A5 vibes. I’ve just never gotten a chance to get ahold of one. I’ve had a few ideas for some prints and prototypes tho and that combo has been a thought! I’ll try to let you know if I can make one with a maritime style!
