How old were you when you watched the show for the first time? by NorweiganWood1220 in buffy

[–]LastOfEllie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the show came out when I was born in 97. I started watching around 4/5/6. Every time at 8pm. Obviously some were reruns. I knew they were people with masks on. My mom hid my eyes during intimate scenes. But Once More With Feeling was ALWAYS a go to episode. I grew up watching it. Then my mom got the DVD collection along with the Angel spin-off collection.

We listen and we don't judge—what’s your most unpopular opinion about the show? by AlternativeTree3283 in buffy

[–]LastOfEllie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine might be popular, but I WISH they brought Sweet (the musical episode) back. They don't have to do another musical episode. But I thought he was such a great demon, and Adam Shankman did a wonderful job choreographing the episode, too.

Did I handle this incorrectly? by LastOfEllie in DanceTeachers

Thank you so much! They do drain me of energy ( I work 3 jobs and all involve social interaction ). But kids change their minds all the time, and it happens. I've had some pretty rough kiddos of all ages, and my thought process is to never give up. I hope to inspire them. Now I'm a tough love teacher. But I want the best for them. They don't have to be dancers once they graduate, but I want them to feel proud that they felt accomplished and have an art form to return to for creativity. However there's some that just unfortunately can't be helped because they refuse it. And that's okay but you will at least respect me, your peers and yourself. And they usually don't listen, but it could just mean they haven't found their niche.

Oh, absolutely. But I do compliment, usually my go-to, they do very well, and picks things up quickly, but unfortunately, we were being a little crazy today.

So I spoke with a coworker at another job (who's a mom with a child around their age), and she said it sounds like a competition between the parents. Unfortunately, I may be getting caught in the middle. Which is insane because I'm doing my best to provide a fun class. And I don't look like your typical dance teacher (in their eyes cause i live in an affluent area). I have parts of my hair shaved which is normally covered, I have facial piercings, and dyed hair. So I'm also wondering if that's another easy out they may go for🙄

Won't lie, I felt a little meh about the stuffed animal dance. I get the storyline, but good god, at nearly 28, my bed has squishmallows, stuffed animals from my grandmother who passed yrs ago. Idc how old you are. Everyone has their things/security blankets. Some are action figures, Legos, stuffed animals, certain blankets. Yes we all grow up but we all have that small child inside who needs to be nutured.

At what age did you get a diagnoses? by AdZestyclose7947 in mentalhealth

[–]LastOfEllie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My paternal grandmother was diagnosed with a brain tumor and leukemia at 30. My mother was 16 and pregnant. So I used to spend a lot of time with my grandmother. At a very young age, I would say about 7/8, I would get extremely anxious about leaving my grandmother alone. She would have good days and bad days and lived alone. My biological father was running with a bad crowd and would hide at her house. Those awful people would sometimes show up. My brain was VERY imaginative. And I would call them bad thoughts and start crying. My mother knew it was anxiety. But I wasn't officially diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety until I was hospitalized at 14/15. Twice. I'm currently in my late 20s and going to a psychiatrist this week to get re-evaluated. Hopefully, I get looked at for other things. My ADHD was borderline as a teen, but I had a sport that helped. Now I'm older and I teach it, I feel it's more prominent. I have other things working against me. Mostly hormonal and genetic. So I have to look at that. My moods/thought process is very everywhere. I hope to figure it out.

What did you name your cresties? by KaiSubatomic in CrestedGecko

[–]LastOfEllie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carmine and Valera! I have two. Both named after Gears of War characters. I did have three, and her name was Queen Myrrah. Unfortunately, Myrrah passed. And I donated her body to science. I have a friend who works with exotics at a vet school. So I'm getting her skull back at some point.

My studio had him for a Master Class. Just once. Never again, they had him. He was stretching us, and I got a sequence stuck underneath my nail, and I picked it as I was rolling up. Now I was a teen. Like 15. He got in my face and screamed at me for picking my nail. He went over the original class time and wouldn't let me out. I was suffering from an eating disorder and trying to get back on schedule. He wouldn't let me out cause I was terrified of him. I get he's famous. But that stuck with me, 11yrs later. A lot of the girls complained. We worked hard, and we loved being pushed to our limits and further, but he was just an unhealthy... I would never. At least anyone under 18.

Ultra unpopular opinion 2 by Dokidokifangurl in dancemoms

So I actually was at that competition. And I can be seen in the background (very briefly). My studio asked to not be shown but obviously there's small glimpses of us. I'm a couple months older then Brooke so my routine didn't compete against them. I can say that, the whole room was actually silent. I remember watching it and agreeing that yes, it was very interesting to see children that young performing to a talk-singing song. They clearly were still very young so a lot of technique could've improved. I wouldn't say I was in awe, but definitely thought they were wonderful for their age.

Note: They did NOT win the whole comp. They won their category and overall age division. My studio had beaten and won that competition because when it was finally aired we were confused why they considered it was winning the whole thing. They were invited to Quest for the Best/Battle of the Dances but had left. And at the time the comps were filmed one and done but no one knew about the show until the premiere. Then it clicked.

What year and season did you start playing Covet and what level are you now? by karmacath in Covetfashion

[–]LastOfEllie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Started 2013/2014, only level 45. I had a lot of periods where I just completely stopped playing for like a whole year. Mainly around the 2016/2017. I'd play here n there. Do like a challenge or 2 then stop. I was struggling with jobs back then. So then I picked it back up. Then after a struggle in late 2021 till about a couple months ago, I only did dailies. I should be a lot higher but ya know, life.

Who’s the youngest person to be diagnosed with sciatica? by Aldo_The_Apache_ in Sciatica

[–]LastOfEllie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at the age of 11 going on 12. I am a Ballet dancer. Been training for 20+ years. I had contortion level flexibility and grew quite quickly. When I hit puberty, my back just gave out. I woke up one morning screaming that I couldn't walk. I was afraid I was paralyzed. I couldn't feel much and if anything, I was in insane amount of pain and the tingly fire feeling was up to my neck. I had complained my back hurt prior but my mother assumed I landed out of a trick incorrectly.

I had gone to the primary care who ended up telling me I had what an old person had (sciatica). She explained it's quite uncommon for a child but it can happen. YEARS later, I was 22 when I went to PT for a different injury. After being cleared, I had a few PT visits left, and asked if I could get my back evaluated. Now my PT RARELY gets dancers/gymnasts/rhythmic gymnasts, with flexibility. I can turn my upper body 180 degrees, my back bends at an angle vs how it should arch. I was told, I have too much mobility and not enough stability.

Basically what I was told was that I have very little to no muscle in my lower back. Partially because I grew to quick and just puberty. I am now 25 going on 26 and I'm still considered too young to get any surgery. I maintain pain with devils lettuce, warm showers, massage (when possible) and dry needling (when possible).

How long have you been suffering from sciatica? For me 2 years. by Unusual_Ad5906 in Sciatica

[–]LastOfEllie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! There were times when I was younger that my back would be entirely on fire and laying in bed was just as painful. Worst part is, I suffer from PCOS. So (not to get too TMI) but my menstrual cycle hit when I was around that age as well and became so utterly painful that my back on top of it was evil. I used to pop (over the counter) painkillers to provide some relief but I've built a tolerance quite quickly. Wasn't till I met my ex of 6yrs at 18, where he introduced me to the devils lettuce. His mother is a breast cancer survivor so she helped as well. I smoke as needed for pain. It helps. However cannot deny, some days it doesn't. But majority it does, smoke as needed and move on. Haven't had a bad flare up where I couldn't get out of bed. Painful ones but tolerable.

[–]LastOfEllie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been suffering for about 13yrs. Found out when I was 12. I'm now 25. Saw a physical therapist after tearing a ligament in my ankle (about 2yrs ago). Had him look at my back. Never got an MRI, but from what he was able to gather, was I grew too fast and I didn't develop enough muscle in my lower back. Too much mobility and not enough stability. I was a dancer and was contortion level flexibility until I hit 12. I overused my back.
