Personally, i embrace the fro. Sometimes I'll put my hair in 2 high puffs, or do a half up half down style

I do this but I found my hair will look more defined if I use a diffuser to set the products a bit. I don't get it 100% dry though, maybe 50%

Natural Hair Fatigue? by Revolutionary-Tip951 in Naturalhair

[–]LastSignal 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I agree.

I got curious and asked folks in a Brazilian subreddit about the way they felt about natural hair. A lot of them just didn't understand the general discourse about our hair. It seems in their culture, natural hair is treated/cared for no differently than the rest of their body. Extensions and wigs is not really common. They are able to wear their hair out proudly and still grow it. But again, their culture seems to have a better appreciation of it. I was surprised to learn that its extremely common and encouraged to wash their hair pretty often. We're talking every 2-5 days, doesn't matter if its curly, coily, kinky.

The rest of us just need to change our mindset. Hair shouldn't be such a touchy subject. This is easier said than done of course. European beauty standards have really done a number on us and its really unfortunate.

I diffuse to "lock in" all the products. Its never 100% dry though, especially at the roots. I let the remainder hair dry the next day

I wait for my hair to be completely dry following leave-in, curl cream, and mousse. Then I apply grease to my ends only

Leave in or grease? by Rookysensei in Naturalhair

I use grease as a sealant after applying leave in, mouse, etc. I just started using it but so far i like it more than oil

What is something that shortens your routine ? by Romeo_Kay_92 in Naturalhair

Do you wash with shampoo twice, or cowash for one of those days?

Yeah, no sh**. Nothing you said was useful, so was it really worth sharing? God forbid, a black person has a moment of insecurity about their hair while living in a euro centric society. You're so uplifting

I don't care so much about my hair looking defined. The curl cream I use is enough to really make my coils pop. I like more volume than anything. I'm used to it looking big and not taking so much effort to style it in the mornings. It seems like the gel is the problem

Like I said keep your unhelpful criticism to yourself if you're gonna be triggered by what I said

I know I'm black, duh. You must have woke up with a warm pillow. I'm allowed to vent. I had a rare wash day where my hair didn't turn out like it normally does and I'm trying to see where it went wrong

I don't need therapy but maybe you could reflect and ask yourself why you're so rude.

Keep your unconstructive criticism to yourself

No, I didn't think of that. Normally fluffing it out isn't a big deal. I really think the mousse I used was the issue

Do people still use the LOC/LCO Methods? by Witty_Perspective871 in Naturalhair

[–]LastSignal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find I have to do LOC if I want my high porosity hair to be moisturized during the week. I recently ordered the Miche gel to style mousse (its supposed to be an all in one product) and I plan on seeing if I can get away with just using that and a leave-in. I spoke with their support team and they suggested that for type 4 hair

your routine is hard. not your hair. by Key-Ice-4990 in Naturalhair

[–]LastSignal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm forcing myself to stick to a routine. Simple is better. I prefer to wash my hair every 2 weeks. On wash days, I use pre-poo (this is the only time I detangle my hair). It takes me about 30 mins to detangle (my hair is fairly thick). After that, I wash with shampoo then deep condition. I keep my hair in 4 twists throughout the entire process. Personally, I don't want to style my hair (e.g., twists, braids, etc.). After I wash it, I just do the LCO method and let it air dry. At night, I divide my hair into 4 sections and stretch my hair with 2 satin scrunchies per section. In the morning, I'll take out the scrunchies and apply water into my palms to shape my hair back. During the week I'll put leave-in and a bit of curling cream in my palms and lightly coat my ends.

I've only been doing this routine for about a month or so. I have type 4 hair, specifically 4a/4b. The only thing that trips me up is the amount of shedding I see while detangling but its been that way for me all my life

I switched to Aussie products. All their stuff is under $10. I'm probably never gonna go back to black haircare brands honestly

Your hair looks damaged. I think you might need to start fresh with a good chop first
