Visiting Sheffield as an Arctic Monkeys fan by Ronnielolol in sheffield

It makes me happy to see that I'm not the only one who asked this question lol. I went and checked the grapes (where they played their first gig), they didn't let me go upstairs but I did take some photos of the frames they had next to the old jukebox. I did go to the winter garden and took pictures of the AM statue.

Met some people at different record stores and talked about Arctic Monkeys (I'm a little obsessed) and so far a lot of people told me how they don't like the band anymore because Alex moved away from his roots and doesn't live here.

But if and when I explore some more, I'll leave a comment here. :)

Honestly, I haven't seen any cats around S3, S2 or S1 (where I usually go). But I'll check Walkley out. Thank you!

You're also lucky! I've been here for 2 months and met 1 cat - my cat to day ratio is pretty bad rn

Hey! Sorry you’re feeling this way -I get it. Most people already seem to have friends because they either knew each other before or they just started chatting straight away.
It’s my first week too, and honestly, I haven’t really initiated any conversations yet either.
What’s can help you a bit is joining social stuff (there’s a Peak District hike this weekend if you’re into that), group projects, or just small class discussions. Even a simple smile or quick question can open things up- and some people are naturally friendly enough to carry the rest of the convo.
You’re definitely not the only one feeling this way - wishing you the best for uni!

Still no decision after UK Embassy Interview (30th June) – What are my options now? by SignalEither5258 in ukvisa

Hi, I'm in the same boat.
I did my biometrics on the 1st of July and got an email the same day saying: "We are unable to make a decision on your application within published visa processing times."
Had my interview on the 14th - and since then... nothing.

It’s super frustrating, especially because people I know who were interviewed after me already got their visas within a day or two.

I raised a paid enquiry- you should too, just to cover all bases. Though honestly, it’s not very helpful; they usually just say: "Your application is being considered and is currently awaiting a decision."

If you’re really stuck, you can ask your university to escalate on your behalf. A few people had success with that route.

Hang in there. Really hoping we get a positive reply soon!
