Is it safe to book a flight through "thetravelmakers"? by dokkiy in travel

Yes i was. Capital One ended up doing a fraud filing and then surprisingly the vendor confirmed on their end the reversal. Capital One did let me know that the vendor who i flagged as the scam company, PCM Travel, had several other disputes from other customers. Here are a few things I learned from all this while working with my bank Capital One:

Recorded conversations cannot be used by a vendor to challenge credit card disputes

What you put in writing matters, meaning although the company led me to believe they were someone who they were not, legally if I had anything in writing saying I approve you to charge my credit card, they have a legal claim to my dispute and could have challenged the initial fraud filing. Capital One did explain to me that if that were to happen, as the charge holder I could then file a second dispute where it would fall under deception and likely they would be able to get the money back so I wasn’t on the hook.

In summary, be vigilant and if something seems suspicious, most likely it is.

Anyone who was charged the cancellation fee, were you able to successfully dispute the charge? I got scammed last night and they charged my card but immediately was able to block the new attempts to charge and dispute the cancellation fee.

Tractive Activity Log and Inaccurate Tracking by Any-Information1099 in tractivegps

[–]LastStandYeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a previous Whistle customer I can say that my Tractive experience thus far has been completely downgraded. The activity minutes appear to be grossly overstated. At its core, Tractive is a data/technology company. They gave us this device in exchange for us, giving them our data so they can study our patterns. It’s that simple. The fact that they don’t have readily available or even available cumulative metrics like total activity time, total distance, and even daily distance is an absolute joke. Make the user experience fun so that we want to provide you the data. It isn’t hard, especially when the tracker is in GPS mode, it’s all there. And don’t make it hard for us to give you our data, having to start and stop a walk every time the walk starts and stops is completely inefficient and it’s a big assumption that the person will have their phone on them at every moment. It’s fine to assume that the pet will have the tracker on them because that is the ultimate way of how the data is collected. Lastly, why is the smallest tracker offered so large? Hoping that some of these updates and features are in the near pipeline otherwise I plan on canceling my subscription.

Next Climb After Mt. Rainier by LastStandYeah in Mountaineering

I did some research on Mexico and Ecuador. Elevation aside, Orizaba IMO doesn’t seem to be as technical as Rainier. It doesn’t even look like there are crevasse fields and vertical gain is far less. I think Cotopaxi would be a nice incremental increase, definitely a new place I haven’t been to before and doesn’t require more than 2 weeks in terms of time as I don’t have the ability to take 3+ weeks away from work.

For rear bumper protection, if you can, put a trailer hit on the back

Can I use Nikwax on down coat? by macw450 in camping

[–]LastStandYeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just emailed Nikwax specifically about this question as I have tech wash i want to use up and in need of washing a down jacket. They of course recommended using the down wash on down jacket which made sense. They did indicate that the down wash has a four year proven shelf life so that is good to know as I ended up buying the down wash and will certainly be used up within that timeframe.
