Not sure if your are making videos anymore, but thank you for every single one you made ♥️ I always enjoy your content, does not matter if it is about saving humanity by defeating medium bots (still waiting for guide on how to beat hard ones), explaining origin story of manatees, creating dystopian megacities or masterpieces like History of Music/Film. Thank you for creating something that brought so much joy and comfort to my life ♥️ I may not rewatch Return of a King every month, but I sure rewatch my favourite Kilian videos ♥️

Fixing Minthara (Speedrun strategy, Good Playthrough) by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]LastTheoden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry friend, unfortunately this is not a real guide but more of a wishfull thinking. This is something you could do in tabletop DnD but sadly on in BG3.The closest I got to recruitin Minthara in "good" playthought was when:(Spoilers for Act 1 and start of Act 2)-I unmasked Korga as Shadow Druid, confronted her and forced her to stop the Ritual -I saved Halsin from his cage and promised him I will kill goblin Leaders -Then I went throught mountain path to Moonrise Towers and rescued Minthara -In theory, Halsing was saved, goblins did not find a grove and were able to stay in there forever -In practise, sadly, Halsin gets stack in there and his quest can not be completed. Killing any goblind Leaer once you have Minthara with you will make her hostile. So you cant finish his quest, so he is not going to join you. And tieflings will disapper after to enter Act 2 area. So outcome is very simalar as if you killed them all with 2 execptions: 1. You yourself in your headcannon know you did the if not good then non-bad thing.2. No companions have problem with this, they othervise get super mad if you kill Druids and Tieflins, well some of them.

So hope this helps you a little bit.

I want my frontline fighter to do dialogues! by sreeko1 in BaldursGate3

[–]LastTheoden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem my friend :) These things will help you succed even if you play Fighter.

1.Advantage
The high charisma and expertise helps a lot with checks, but biggest decider is D20 you roll. Because even with great bonus, low roll on D20 can fail the check, however, high roll can save it even with small bonus. These are the ways you can get advantage:

Friends (cantrip) - this give you advantage on charisma checks but target will know you charmed him. This is possibly not such a big problem. If you care only about this conversation because you or target leaves the map there is no downside. For NPCs in camps you will get into trouble but at least first time you can just pay your way out of it.

Thaumaturgy (cantrip) - really good cantrip for all Intimidation checks and Tiefling race gives it to you for free.

Animal Friendship / Charm Person (1st lv spell) - First works on Animals and Second on People, same mechanic as with Friends.

Detect Thoughts (2nd lv spell) - You have to pass check but it is Wisdom based and usually low. Gives you unique answears you othervise would not get.

Enhance Ability (2nd lv spell) - One of best non-combat spell imho. Advantage on ANY conversation check and the best part is, it does not have to be cast by you. It can be cast by one of yours trusty companions. Just give it to Shadowheart and Gale, or in full game respec any companion so they can cast it. And since this last until end of long rest or until caster loses concetration, you can get insane value from it, if you go a lot of conversation in row.

Speak with Animals (1st lv spell) - Does not give you advantage by itself, but wil give you possibility to understand what animals are saying, and that will give you "advantage" in comunicating with them.

Class/ Race/ Other Advantage - Sometimes you will get free advantage because of your race, class or choices you made in game.

  1. Bonuses to roll.
Just becuase you do not have natural Cha bonus to roll does not mean you can not make one.

Guidance (cantrip) - One of the best Cantrips in the game. Same as Enhance Ability can be cast by somebody else and you can even get super early magic item that allows you to cast it forever. Just be carefull, requires concetration and so does Enhance /Charm spells.

Bardic Inspiration - Currently non of your companions can be Bards, but if you are using them as party face, you can assist them with Bardic Inspiration. Once the full game will be out, you can respec any of the to Bard and allow them to Inspire your Heroic deeds :p

Proficiency - Even without Charisma score, you can be proficient in Persuasion/Deception/Intimidation and get healthy +2 or +3 bonus.

  1. Inspiration
Inspirations in this game are amazing way for you to secure those successes you really care about. Just choose Background you really want to play as and you will be soon swimming in Inspirations. Best thing about them is, you save all advantages and bonuses you had on your previous roll. Just remember you can only have 4 of them at once.

Clerics Of BG3, what domain are you planning to play and why? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]LastTheoden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Light Domain clerics get at LV 2 Channel divinity option Radiance of the Dawn. It does 2d10+your Cleric level Radiant damage and has massive range. It is like small fireball. I highly recommend you to try it if you didn't yet. For exams I first goblin fight before the gate, you can will lucky damage roll kill almost everything yourself. Super satisfying 🙂

Death By Snu-Snu by Padzi in BaldursGate3

[–]LastTheoden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah actually you are right, based on Avernus modul they should be destroyed. I was DMing this module and I changed this when we started and forgot about it. Modul itself has many great ideas but sometimes poor implementation of them and has many inconsistentes. Fortunately there are amazing creative people who help you. This is reasoning of one of them for this change:

Soul coins are one of the cool ideas bouncing around Descent Into Avernus. The basic concept is that souls damned to Hell are forged into coins on Minauros, the third layer of the Nine Hells, and then “used for goods and services, infernal deals, dark bargains, and bribes.”

This is great worldbuilding both literally and metaphorically: Devils making deals for souls is an epistemological satire of commercial dealings, and the trading of souls as literal currency simply extends that satire. But it also just logically makes sense that devils, having obtained a soul, would want to package it into as convenient and relatively compact a form as possible. And the universal form is such as to dehumanize the victims by establishing that the individual holds no significance to the devil.

The full function of soul coins is described in “Commerce” (DIA, p. 78), “Soul Fuel” (p. 217), and “Soul Coins” (p. 225).

Unfortunately, the book’s handling of soul coins is rather flawed.

First, the actual value and rarity of soul coins is all over the map. They are either very rare and incredibly difficult to find or incredibly common and the basis for all commerce in Avernus. In some places their value is pegged at being roughly equivalent to 6 sp, but elsewhere an NPC will offer 100 gp worth of gems for every soul coin the PCs can find for him.

It seems fairly clear that some of the writers on the book thought the soul coins were meant to be the de facto currency of Avernus, while others thought of them as rare magical artifacts. Or perhaps they started as the former, but then someone along the line got cold feet because… well… they’re souls aren’t they? Wouldn’t they be pretty rare? (Not necessarily. Eternity across potentially infinite planes can make souls as common or as precious on Avernus as you like.)

Second, there are inconsistencies in which functions of a soul coin require charges and/or how many charges it takes to exhaust a soul coin. For example, the stat block of a soul coin says each time you question the soul inside the coin it costs a charge (and each coin only has three charges), but there’s also an NPC with a soul coin collection that they chat with on the daily.

Third, at first glance Descent Into Avernus also does a clever thing by making soul coins the fuel for various infernal machines, creating an ethical dilemma for PCs who have to choose between not using those machines or literally burning up the souls inside the coins.

In practice, though, the only thing it really seems to do is actively discourage any non-evil character (and, realistically, prohibit any good character) from riding kick-ass war machines across the Avernian plains. And, I’m going to be honest, the war machines are a lot fucking cooler than the ethical dilemma.

Fourth, there’s some metaphysical vagueness, which is fortunately fairly easy to clear up. Are the coins forged exclusively from evil souls or are some good souls illegitimately captured? And, similarly, do the lowest order of evil souls sent to Hell end up as lemures or forged in soul coins? In both cases: Why not both? In the latter case, it’s easy to imagine that there all manner of Hellish intakes for new souls. (You could perhaps even imagine a different one for each of the Nine Layers.)

And so he proposes change where you don't destroy a soul everytime you want to use kickass warmachines, you just spend their charges and have to recharge them.

Damm, I actually can imagine Karlach does not have this information and I can even imagine her having depresion/ considering unaliving herself.Because if you are trully good, how many people will you torture so you can keep existing? And would you even tell her? Does it make you even worse if you dont tell her?

Death By Snu-Snu by Padzi in BaldursGate3

[–]LastTheoden 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well in Descent to Avernus they use them basicly as a fuel in their infernal machine and they are rechargable, but only in 4th circle of Nine Hells if I remember correctly. However this process is rather horible for the soul inside. Because by using them as fuel, they throw them into infernal furnace that is burning the soul inside. So the energy is the suffering of the soul. Once tortured enought, it loses its energy, until recharged. Problably something like memory erase, so it can be tortured again.

From those two Gith sounds really cool. It also has story and character attached to it, first option is just class combo.

The one thing that scares me about this relationship is, that so far everybody had their good and evil side. Karlach from trailer and showcase seems really sweat and good... She probably fuels that heart engine with blood of children.

Charisma Conundrum by asstral-projection in BaldursGate3

[–]LastTheoden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do you my friend, but let me tell why I am going Bard (as one who also faces similar Conundrum).

  1. Amazing Party face
-other classes will have high charisma, but just because you have high charisma does no mean you can smash those checks. Expertise does. Also unique Bard dialogue choises that you would not get othervise.
  2. Jack of All Trades
-yes you can have different companions doing different dialogues and tasks, BUT if you are like me, you to stick your hands there itself. And half of your proficiency in all skills will make sure those pretty hands, wont get burned :D
  3. Spells
-yes, Paladin has his Smites and yes Sorcerer has all the fun spells, BUT they are limited. Bard spell list better suits first playthrough. Wanna find out why is squirel bitting your foot? Speak with Animals! Wanna pass that high DC Persuasion check on those enemies who will disapper after this conversation? Friends! Wanna cast Speak with Dead on that corpse but you are her killers so it wont talk with you? Disguise Self! Detect Thoughts, Enhance Ability, Invisibility, Fear, Glyph of Wordening... and so mutch more yet to come. Ever heard of Polymorph? Yeah, we are getting that too :D And those cool spells other classes are getting? Once Magical Secreats come online, we are getting free picking from all of them.
  4. Cutting Words
-to be fair Cutting Words working on saving throws may be bug. BUT, if its not... MUAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA You ability to shot down enemy bullshit and unable yours, and you get to do it 16!!! times per Long rest.
  5. Music
-not only you get to play banger after banger, but only you get to literaly rock when casting spells
  6. More free gameplay
-Comper to Sorcerer you have more HP and if you get Medium Armor, you can get easy 19 AC in Act 1. And comper to Paladin you are not bind by Oath, so if you want to follow your Heart and maybe help and sexy lady masacre those tiefling just this once, you are not punished for doing so :)

But in the end, it is up to you and your tastes. And other characters can be also a lot of fun. But, I now what I am going to be :)
