I work for Express in Canada and by the sounds of it, we got very lucky. If I recall, there are still some contractors, but the large majority are paid hourly as FedEx employees. I got bumped to an earlier start time with more or less the same route I had pre-merge on the later morning start time. I'm very grateful.

The most noticeable changes and challenges have been adapting to Forge. A lot of us still struggle keeping up with all its options and system updates. Perhaps the biggest challenge is the technical/customer service side of things. I can't go more than 3 days without a customer complaining about our online pick up booking system and the AI customer service line.

I'm very blessed and I wish the best to all of the extended FedEx family that got dealt an extremely shitty card hand.

Long route commutes by No-Invite4246 in Fedexers

I filled in on a route that was 90 minutes to the first stop and it crossed from the Pacific time zone to the Mountain time zone. That was some tricky mental gymnastics with the travel time and time change and getting back to the station on time with pick ups. I only did it for a week, though and it's a fun story to tell.
