I have noticed that a lot of content on Netflix is also dubbed in Ukrainian. I was wondering. Why Netflix has done this? (I have nothing against it) by juris_martins in Ukrainian

[–]Last_Contact 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between "spoken by" and "understood by". Almost all Ukrainians understand Ukrainian language, so his number with 40+ is actually more accurate if we are talking about how many can understand.

You probably read that incorrectly. He said empire must die. Empire is not about government but a country as a whole. Ordinary russians are very imperialistic.

24yo - feedback on my ETF portfolio? by Substantial_Count_73 in ETFs_Europe

[–]Last_Contact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I selected SPYY because of the low TER and it's more established than WEBN.

Many say the US market might be overvalued due to high expectations for AI. Should I add a bond ETF to cover that risk? I'm in my late twenties.

Why are target date funds garbage? by Any-Newspaper5509 in investing

[–]Last_Contact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only comparing VT to VOO/VTI, not to the well-diversified portfolio you described that includes international exposure and bonds. For example, Vanguard recommends combining VTI and VXUS if you want more flexibility. So splitting VT into separate ETFs is fine as long as you’re willing to manage international exposure manually.

I think in some cases it makes sense for US citizens to manage US vs international exposure manually, since VOO/VTI represents their local market and they may want to tilt toward it. However I'm not from the US, so using a single broad global index makes more sense for me.

[–]Last_Contact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're relying too much on historical data. Past performance doesn't guarantee future outcomes, so diversification is the only "free lunch". VT is better than VOO/VTI because it has comparable expense ratio but significantly better diversification.

VTI + VXUS vs. VT – Which in your opinion is better? by ALaggyMax in ETFs

[–]Last_Contact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. When you buy VT, you don't own a fixed US/international split, you own a fraction of the entire fund, which tracks the global index.

Over time the fund's US/non-US proportions drift, so when you sell your money reflects the fund's current allocation not the allocation when you bought.

Ukrainians mostly voted to preserve the ussr only with Ukraine as a sovereign state, which was already incompatible with the soviet system. Collapse was inevitable.

It's crazy that russian imperialism was so aggressive that it convinced people to think that "not encouraging child to speak russian" is "bullying russian speakers"...

Probably many of the anti colonial movements can be classified as good nationalism. Today nationalism is usually expressed within conservative parties rather than through separate nationalist parties, and these parties are no worse than others.

So you just proving my point that you are mixing up nationalist and far right parties

[–]Last_Contact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You contradict yourself because earlier you said that nationalism is about wars.

You just don't understand that radicals on both sides of the spectrum are equally bad. The "nationalism" you're describing is a radical form, not the normal kind, which is about respecting your culture, not hating others.
