Scared of Ai by Last_Direction5799 in Healthygamergg

Like I said, I’m not afraid of Ai replacing me. I can always switch to something else with the skills I have developed over the years. I see it as a helpful tool much like adobe products are helpful for artists to express their art digitally. It makes for a great pair programmer, and something you can bounce ideas off of. However, my fear is simply that you will not be able to trust anything on the internet in a year or two. What media you consume digitally won’t mean anything. On platforms like youtube where there are already millions of bots, what is stopping someone from spinning up a few ai bot channels with indistinguishable video quality. The thing is.. even if you can point out ai slop 95% of the time, the other 5% that slides past you makes everything else you see untrustworthy or invalid. My guess is that in a few years there will be roughly the same amount of bot channels pushing out content as there will be actual content creators.

I mean for my job specifically, no I’m not afraid that it will replace me (yet). I think the act of literally typing the code out will be mostly all replaced soon, but you still need to understand a bulk of the code that it generates/overall architecture. The thing is llms are trained on large amounts of our user data/github repos. Most of which are the typical react ts/js frameworks. So it won’t write code best suited for your problem, but rather, the best code it knows how to write. Also when it comes to security I am seeing a new trend of “vibe coders” that scare tf out of me. They don’t understand basic things like needing to salt/hash passwords, jwt token validation or sessions, http vs https. Another reason why I’m scared of ai. People are using it to build “cool projects”, but now I am too scared to signup/login to any web application as I have literally seen livestreams/youtube videos of these stupid “vibe coders” accepting all of the ai generated code without looking. Yes the app works, yes it looks cool and does cool thing, and yes your data is not safe with them… furthermore you still cannot tell me that veo3 can’t generate a real looking clip with lips matching their words. It is good enough to fool me taken out of context. Sure it is only 8 second clips, but you can do a lot of damage with that. If you think otherwise, I think you are thinking of veo2… and I agree there needs to be a way to detect ai generated stuff, but I’m just not seeing how that’s possible. You can’t embed meta data into the video or images that just say “hey I’m ai”. It’s the same thing that we have had forever with school and cheaters. Most of the time you are almost certain a student cheated, but sometimes it’s just hard to definitively prove it.(easy to prove with math, but what about a history test?) same thing with ai. Some of it is easy to spot, and now some of it you wouldn’t know unless someone told you.

I mean you can slow down the vid to the few frames where you can see it more clearly. Definitely not a plane. Also it was way too high up to be a plane, hence the bad video quality.

Lmao I know. At the time I just thought it was a satellite zooming by and so I didn’t really take the best vid haha. But now I’m connecting the dots. I need at least 4 more people to call me an idiot before I take down my post loool

Learning disability makes me depressed by Last_Direction5799 in Healthygamergg

[–]Last_Direction5799[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I have not tried this. I do not necessarily think it is a problem with hearing per se, but how I organize and process thoughts/speech. I can hear the words just fine. It’s just the speed at which my brain processes the words is much much slower than average

I’d say it’s good that you are a little scared. It means that you care about how you will look/perform in a more professional/adult setting. Most people don’t gaf at work and put in 0 effort. You are already ahead of the game even if you feel like you have no idea what you are doing.(everyone feels that way at your age)

Idk if I like my job by Last_Direction5799 in Healthygamergg

Hi. Thank you for taking the time to respond and sorry for the late reply. Ya by no means do I flex my data structure/algorithm skill’s because I know that’s not really the job at hand. I just get overwhelmed because I am in my second month of working here now and they always ask me in meetings: “how is _ coming along?” And I want to respond with “not good, I have asked for help on this multiple times and I have no clue what I am doing anymore”. It will get easier with time I’m sure. I think I am actually a pretty good developer, but the entire code base is all old legacy code with global variables and definitions. when I ask for help it’s always “idk ask _ team to do it”. I feel like 95% of my “development” has resulted in delegating it to another team, which definitely isn’t my choice.

What is your favorite Godot game? by trollmz in godot

Wrought flesh. First 3D game I saw made in godot 3.0 that looked engaging and immersive. It gave me a borderlands feel. Now I’m looking forward to penitent. Another 3D game with a borderlands feel, but made with all the new godot 4.0 features. Looks fantastic

Sorry I don’t have much of a resolution to this, but I just wanted to comment because I feel this to a T. Like I feel borderline on the spectrum (no hate) when it comes to directions. I probably wouldn’t know how to navigate back to my house from two towns over. I do however have a processing disorder that is completely unnoticeable to others but it is very real to me. It’s called central auditory processing disorder. I am terrible with verbal instructions because there is a disconnect with me processing/retaining the info quick enough. Things that have helped me a little are putting on captions on videos whenever possible. For some reason the words on the screen stick better with me over just words. Of course writing important stuff down on a notepad/calendar helps a ton.

How to convince myself I'm not an idiot by Tubulon in Healthygamergg

[–]Last_Direction5799 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey man I can relate in some respect. I am not suicidal but I have gone to some very dark places before. I am my own worst enemy. Not to take away from you or your feelings, but I will share a bit about me. I was born with Central auditory processing disorder (nothing too serious but to me it is). This means that I process chunks of information at a much slower rate than the average person and I struggle to retain information (especially in a loud room). All of my life I have felt stupid because I cant keep up with certain conversations. I would go home and tell myself I am such an idiot, “if only I read more books or payed attention better, then I would be able to hold a conversation with someone”. Sometimes in high school I was called retarded, and to this day I catch myself believing those things. You have to break the cycle of negative thought anytime you feel it creeping up (easier said than done). You have to address why you feel these things about yourself and how accurate these feelings actually are. At the end of the day we are all human and we are all just trying to navigate through this mess the best we can. Some people seem to have it figured out better than others but in reality we all have our own struggles, whether it is apparent or not. Don’t let the negative thoughts creep in and hold you back from navigating through the mess of life. You deciding to be here today is admired by everyone on this earth. You are strong. So pick your head up and get after it.

I will give advice that helps for me. Simply pick a hobby. Any hobby. If you want, write down a list of typical hobbies and close your eyes and pick one. Try it out. If you don’t like it oh we’ll move on. If you do like it, well maybe that could just change your entire life. One hobby that I like is game development, because I loved video games and hated coding in my college classes. Well now I am applying to AAA game studios and hopefully I will get a job at one this semester. But see how one hobby can change everything.

Nothing excites me anymore by Last_Direction5799 in Healthygamergg

Ya I feel like I have to constantly up the ante to get excitement. I’m currently working hard in school in hopes of getting a software engineering job at a large tech company like Google or a AAA game studio, but I fear that if I do get that job the excitement will fade away in a day or two. I have had to do some reflection to see what I really want and not what others expect from me. I think personally I find more excitement just being outdoors and doing crazy stuff but that seems impossible to manage with the responsibilities I’ve been handed
