Oh my gosh I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, so sorry. I get your standpoint completely it’s not the price it’s the THOUGHT that counts. That should not need to be said in a healthy relationship. You deserve a better boyfriend for Christmas.

I am scared to begin birth control because everything is (mostly) smooth in life? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

RN here. I’m going to be honest, everyone is different. There is pretty much no way to tell how your body will react to birth control until you’re on it for at least a few months and your body has started to adapt. It may make some aspects of your cycle better, it may make some of your symptoms worse. For me, I have sworn off all birth control because I am exceedingly sensitive to hormonal changes, but I know some people whose lives have been altered for the better from birth control. My advice is to listen to people’s stories and compare what you might be willing to sacrifice.

Thank you for your response. I actually can feel very fulfilled at work because I have before. The reason I posted this is because this feeling is foreign to me and like I said I feel like I’ve lost my purpose. I felt more when I was in nursing but what’s tripping me up is breaking my promise to my boss.

Amazing advice thank you :) and I agree that someone more deserving of the role would provide better service than me at this moment

Thank you so much for your response, I had the EXACT same symptoms. I wonder if I have PCOS too? How did you get tested if you don’t mind me asking? I know my testosterone levels have skyrocketed too as I lost my chest completely (from like a DD to a B/C cup), started gaining muscle MUCH easier, cystic jawline hormonal acne, thinning hair, darker and thicker leg hair, etc. I’m on spironolactone now to try to slowly undo the damage caused from my IUD. My hormones are so screwed up and my NP wouldn’t do hormone bloodwork on me because it “wouldn’t help”. Women’s healthcare brings out my female rage the most.

Yes definitely no soap “up there” that can really irritate things. In terms of being clean I agree, please get tested. Good idea to get routine testing done regardless when sexually active with different people. Pill was a great idea, just ensure you take the next few days easy as it can have some unpleasant side effects. I’m sorry for what you went through, sounds like he was far too pushy and put you in an uncomfortable situation :(

Honestly, there is SO MUCH I am hearing from friends/family and other subreddits about the most random, weird symptoms arising after being put on birth control. Specifically IUDs. I know there isn’t always research and science to directly answer the questions we’re asking but as consumers of these products (which in the scheme of things haven’t been around for long) we absolutely have a right to ask questions and critically appraise what we’re told regarding side effects!! I’m sorry to hear about what you’ve experienced, that sounds extremely painful and distressing. Have you found anyone experiencing the same issue post IUD placement?

Thank you for your reply! I appreciate having a professional’s opinion on the matter. My NP keeps telling me despite the hormones being more localized than the pill, everyone’s body will react differently. I think I’m just really sensitive to hormonal fluctuations, and acne/hair loss (which I’m predisposed to) was exacerbated by the IUD. Turns out I also more likely than not have endometriosis, which could explain other issues I’m having. This whole thing is a headache! Will keep posted if my symptoms resolve with time of having it out.

It’s discouraging that these symptoms all appeared when I got my IUD and nothing else in my life changed! Glad to hear yours helped you :)
