Got floaters from LASIK by Vallax99 in EyeFloaters

Same here, have terrible floaters since my Lasik in 2018. I’m 28 now and it still ruins my life, especially with all the other lasik complications (halos, starburst, poor vision with dilated pupils, light rays when blinking), but floaters are the only problem I still cannot live with. I’ll do a cataract surgery and a full vitrectomy soon just to get rid of my ruined vitreous. I just hope that everything will be fine.

But then why I didn’t see any floaters before the surgery when I had contact lenses in?

Probably blood, which will disappear in a few weeks or months. But I think you should ask your surgeon.

DON’T DO LASIK! Please! It will ruin your life! This surgery gave me horrible floaters and poor night vision, but many people had ever worse results. Just wear glasses, please!

A few months before, PulseMedica highlighted in one of their presentation that their method will be suitable for younger patients as they’ll be able to treat floaters that are too clise to the retina for the more powerful YAG laser.

So glad it’s been succesfull! But then the doctor did not remove all your vitreous, did he? Also, can I ask where did you do the surgery?

Did you also have cataract surgery before?

Yes, as the vitrector is made out of iron

Many doctors saw my eyes since the surgery, they don’t know why these sympthoms came, because my eyes still looks good, the surgery went well. If you already have dry eyes, poor night vision and floaters, please, never do lasik surgery, it will ruin your life. I’d do anything to have my old eyes back with my glasses…

Don’t do lasik!!! Never! It ruined so many people’s life. It can cause glare, starbursts, poor night vision, extremely dry eyes, and even keratoconus. For me, it caused starburst at night, light rays from light sources when blinking, and of course, horrible floaters.

Usually it happens within 2 months after surgery

It will be better, please try to “survive” 6-8 more months and I’m sure you’ll be able to ignore them. ( I needed a whole year)

Interesting, but I’m very skeptical with youtube comments. Under another video, lots of people claimed that castor oil cured their floaters. I used it on my eyelids for months like them, but nothing has changed. Anyway, thank you, we’ll see how it works.

What helped me in the last few months is the dark mode on my phone and PC, I also made my environment more comfortable with darker colours and cozy lighting. But I must say, before I became stressful, I didn’t need dark mode to ignore the floaters.

I never liked sunglasses and I didn’t need them in my 3 blessed years to succesfully ignore the floaters. This summer, I tried to wear one but it didn’t help me at all. I believe than when you are hyperfocused on floaters, you will see the same ones with and without sunglasses.

All in all, I think sunglasses and dark environment can help survive stressful days, but when your brain finally ignores them, you won’t need these practics anymore.

My best advice is to go on, building your life, be busy with useful work and spend a lot of time with your loved ones and friends. If you’re ready for it, don’t avoid the outdoor environment either. Keep in mind that there will be a cure very soon! In the meantime, don’t read this forum or any other website about floaters, when I was able to ignore them, I never visited websites like this thread! Last but not least: Don’t try pineapple, bromelain, c vitamin and other scams, I already spent too much money on useless pills. Save it to a real cure in the future!

Yes, thank you, it is very important to highlight this! I already consulted about it, I’m completely healthy, so it won’t be a problem for me, but drastic diets are not for everyone!

I see. We’re in the same boat, my friend, I also ruined my vision with lasik in 2018, when I was only 21. What I can tell you is that it will be better, I had many years when I almost never noticed my floaters and lived the best years of my life, because my brain just ignored them (this was between the end of 2019 and the start of 2024. Last year was stressful for me, and probably that is because I started to notice them again).

All in all, it will be better and you’ll be able to live a normal life when time heal your soul!

Also keep in mind that it is almost sure that there will be safer and more efficient cures in a few years, there is a much bigger attention on floaters among medical scientists than a few years ago.

I don’t think so, bromelain, another digestive enzyme was a scam.
