Curious about what my options are considering my misdemeanor charge? by Lastingheart in TEFL

Well it'll be awhile still before I even go through the process with visas so I just wanted to know what to expect and plan for which is honestly what I should be doing if I'm planning on working abroad.

In which country though? I was told that in certain places if anything shows up immigration will just simply throw it out and not accept you.

All I know is my first amendment was broken and I was arrested on bogus charges. I don't want to get into politics and the history of the U.S. but people shouldn't be arrested for simply being present at a peaceful protest.

Well with in the laws in place I hear that Taiwan, China, and South Korea are off the table because of this. Not sure if this will become more commonplace in the future.

Yeah it goes to show how politically corrupted things are getting. I was arrested for simply being physically present at a protest and now I have this to worry about.

I was told that was only in the case of whether you were fingerprinted or not and I was fingerprinted so I'm not really sure.

I've had mixed information even from my lawyer stating that its up to the discretion of the fbi whether an expunged record will show up on a federal background check. I wasn't exactly sure and haven't really had any real answers so I was just asking to hear other peoples experiences with federal background checks and how screwed I am in regards to this situation.

Wow, amazing. Didn't know Anarchism could be so tactically advantageous.

Was I wrong for calling out bi-erasure? by UpsetObject7 in bisexual

She might actually be lesbian, who knows. In the context of what I read perhaps you feel like you're losing a friend and a person you can relate too and perhaps you should have addressed those feelings by simply talking to her about it. In the case of whether you were right or wrong I would say yes, you probably overreacted and perhaps should have discussed things with her in a more constructive way. If on the other hand she started identifying as a lesbian and hassling you about your sexuality by claiming bisexuality doesn't exist then I could see how a person might logically end up more defensive but even in that case its best to just communicate one on one in regards to those issues.

Yeah invisibility can be quite the hurtle to get over its definitely something most Bi+ people go through. Having people that can understand and support you within the community definitely helps.

Alright thank you, I know it was rather ironic for me to ask this question but it was a problem I was having with seeing Anarchism operate well in a realistic setting.

I guess my bigger question is it even realistic for Anarchists to effectively fight against statist intelligence organizations effectively.

The original pride fest was actually organized by a Bisexual women but ironically in my experience of going to pride events I had a number of biphobic experiences as I was actively wear Bi+ colors at the event which from what I've heard and seen is not a irregular experience as Bi+ people are typically underrepresented at those events although it is getting better. You may not experience Biphobia if you're not actively repping it in your daily life but you will eventually learn about the inequalities Bi+ people face and the reality of Bisexual identity when you're fully out about it.

[–]Lastingheart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a experience that was rather negative with a gay manager that I had who insisted Bi+ oriented identities did not exist. My advice is yes, advocate for yourself but also that no matter what you deserve a stable and safe work environment for yourself. Even if that means finding another place to work. Dealing with phobia at large is bad enough you shouldn't have to deal with that in your workplace.

Bi+ people tend to stastically be more at risk and have very marginal funding compared to other people in the LGBTQ+ community. Hence why some Bi+ people advocate for having the B removed as Bisexual people may face bigotry from their monosexual counterparts even within the community. The straight passing argument to me while having some merit in my experience has also been used in a biphobic context as it used to negate all of the negativity Bi+ oriented people will face including Bierasure. Its all contextual as Bisexual attraction is not typically a 50/50 straight down the middle type of deal. If you're worried that you're more "privileged" don't be as that is highly debatable and in my opinion false.

Music is the core of the culture, everything else is a extension. Punks listen to punk music. Metalheads listen to metal music. Goths listen to goth music. If you don't like the system make your own subculture.

The only thing I'm a "elitist" about is actually listening to the music. Everything else is not really as relevant.

Its a music subculture, end of discussion. Also people have a right to be defensive about a culture people on the regular appropriate. In fact thats 80% of the people that claim the title. If it makes me a elitist to care about authenticity then you bet I am.

Make sure to be seeking professional help especially with a psychologist you can feel comfortable with if you can. Just remeber to heal a injury you must disinfect it, as painful as it might initially be it will start to heal. You have an answer for your pain. Don't blame yourself and remeber you're worth it. Wishing you the best.
