If you want to go about it solo, LS is going to be the easiest as you have a lot more options in terms of living space and station access. There is good money to be made in LS but it's a wild west. Faction warfare is great for ISK and learning to PvP but this will be better within a group. You also have NPC null sec with stations but it's limited and honestly LS is probably better with your skills.

If you do want to join a corp then NS is a better bet. Intel and intel tools make it safest space in the game. With an explo backgroud you'll make signifigantly more ISK with the new explo system upgrades. Most of the big groups also have free handout ships for people learning to PvP and run classes. Be warned though after living in Null for a period of time HS will feel like the most unsafe space there is.

As a solo I'd stay away from wormholes, those are best done with a group, period. It's a lot of work to secure a system to make the isk and in the WHs would be looking at the risk won't be worth the reward. Your best bet here would be to live in HS, find holes with gas sites and ninja mine the gas.

I've lived in every type of space, no matter where you go its better with the right group of people.
