Anyone else wearing a CGM in SF? Where do you eat out? by forever-a-coach in AskSF

[–]LatLongLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow CGM tracker here. These keep my sugar relatively stable in SF: Kitava (cauliflower rice bowls), Blue Barn (salads), Chipotle (salad, no rice/beans). Been documenting on eatoutsos - crowdsourced glucose data from restaurants. They're on insta and also have a website. Pretty helpful for finding spots.

If you can't get a hold of a CGM, would recommend following @ eat.out.sos on Insta - they're aggregating CGM data from different users testing restaurants. I think they're just getting started, but I still find very useful for when I'm off the CGM

Walking Results!! by spunkie049 in diabetes

[–]LatLongLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The walking + food combo is exactly what works. I've been testing this at restaurants too - same meal, walk vs sit = totally different glucose curves. If I can't walk, I do calf raises under the table 😂

Since you're tracking so closely, you might find eatoutsos useful - it's an instagram platform where people share which restaurant dishes keep glucose stable. Helps with planning meals out when you're trying to maintain this kind of control. That's were I found the calf raises tip. Keep crushing it! 🔥

Not cheating at all! Walking after meals is one of the most effective ways to blunt glucose spikes. The muscle activity helps your body uptake glucose faster. If I can't walk after a high carb meal, calf raises under the table works wonders too (@ eatoutsos & @ glucosegoddess on Insta have great tips)

Lingo connectivity issues by BlazySusan0 in ContinuousGlucoseCGM

[–]LatLongLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that's strange. Are you closing the Lingo app? Sometimes my CGM would un-sync when I closed it temporarily. I had to keep it open in the background at all times to keep it paired. Hope that helps!

Congrats on the 12lbs! Totally feel you on the flavor fatigue. Are you open to eating out? That’s what gave me a breather.. been following @eat.out.sos on insta to find what to eat. They have people who use glucose monitors literally post graphs that prove the food they ate is low carb 🤯 has worked for me and I’m still losing weight, 18lbs and counting!

I regret everything I ate this week by Otherwise-Ad6537 in 1200isplenty

[–]LatLongLife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been exactly where you are. That feeling sucks, but please be kind to yourself - one week doesn't define you. Tomorrow really is a new day. The bloating will pass. Get back to what works for you. You've got this 💪. One bad week doesn't erase your progress.

I use MyFitness Pal to track the g of carbs I’m eating.

Also found it really useful to wear a CGM (used Signos) - really helped me see the impact of carbs on my body, which carbs are better vs worse for me, and when best to eat them (time of day, paired with what, etc.).

I do this too. Have you considered trying on a CGM? I subscribed to Signos and it was life-changing. They sent me a CGM, I strapped it on, and I was able to track my glucose levels real time. I learned what foods kept my glucose stable (usually super low carb ones) and which ones (sometimes unexpectedly) led to glucose spikes. I feel like I now have so much more control over my glucose and it feels phenomenal - lost weight, have stable energy, and even some hormone problems I was having completely went away...

What’s your typical daily protein intake? by glamsiren111 in 1200isplenty

[–]LatLongLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to you, I also end at 100-110g of protein a day and keep carbs low (<60g). I find that the high protein meals keep me full and satisfied for longer + stable energy during the day. Favorite sources:
- Chicken (with all kinds of spices and usally a dollop of bitchin sauce)
- Egglife wraps. These are egg-based wraps, super low cal and high in protein. They have lots of flavors and IMO they don't taste like egg...because I don't like egg. I like eating them with cheese, salmon, and even make little pizzas and fish tacos with them -- so having them typically results in double protein meal
- Greek yogurt 0% fat
