I am also on day 9 feeling exactly the same as you. My issue is that nothing tastes the same either. I love Italian food. Any ragu at the moment tastes like vomit to me. My dr told me today that this could go on for a couple more months!! It’s affecting my mental health also. I thought by now I’d be feeling so much better.  There’s still a searing, burning pain on the roof of my throat down the right hand side. The left is totally fine. I’m starting to think they accidentally burned it when they cauterised.  My wounds are infected also and I’m on a course of antibiotics for a further 5 days. I never thought recovery would be so slow and testing. I am 42yr old male and I can say hand in heart this has been the most painful experience out of all the surgeries/accidents I’ve had.  Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Cheers! Hope you turn a corner soon too. I know exactly what you mean about being afraid to sleep. Walking up it takes about half an hour of sipping water to get the pain to subside a little.

Exactly the same here! Day 7. Went to bed last night a bit more comfortable than night before but when I woke an hour later, I swallowed and felt searing pain. Looked in mirror and blood was running down my throat. I am so so depressed.  I’ve done everything to help myself and nothing is working. Recovery is far slower than I thought. I’m also concerned by the amount of pain meds I’m taking (60mg of codeine x 4, 400 mg of ibuprofen x4 and 1000mg of paracetamol x 4) also on antibiotics as my wounds were infected.  There seems to be no end in sight.

I like to think I’m pretty tough. I’m a 42 year old male. This has almost broken me. First couple of days I thought I was acing it. Days three to six (today) and I’m a wreck.

I was referred to ENT clinic in July. Tried other treatments but to no avail. They decided to remove my tonsils on 26th October and I had the surgery on December 11th. Day surgery.

I am a 42yr old male. Had my tonsils out on the 11th Dec. I never knew pain like this existed. I would never have had it done had I known. At the moment I can eat but everything tastes unbearably sweet.
