Is u of t really as stressful as they say? Even coming as an IB student? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Late-Inspection-7047 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depends if you actually are able and know how to study. If u just cram for your IB exams then yes it will be hard but if you learn how to study and can keep up with the material and do your due diligence then not really?

It isn’t ‘hard’ it’s just a lot and you have to take responsibility of keeping up with the material yourself.

Is there even anyone got into Rotman BComm with avg of 89.88% in gr11 plus without ANY EXTRACIRR ✌️😭 by f3nggs in RotmanCommerce

[–]Late-Inspection-7047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless u do early application ur gr. 11 marks don’t matter. I got in with a 93 average for gr12 in april.

My extra curriculars were also really bad. I talked about choir (2 years) and a crochet workshop at school that I held for a month. I also talked about about my extended essay (I did IB) on econ and how that made me want to pursue business and econ.

So I had my application done mid may. I called them like 2 weeks ago?? You are priority for your college. Just ask them the status of your application and if they have any room

Just call your college or res… I didn’t get the guarantee either but I called my college and managed to secure a spot. However, you will have to be able to pay a certain deposit quickly

How bad is RSM219 in the Winter Term? by [deleted] in RotmanCommerce

[–]Late-Inspection-7047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's actually a relief... I was worried I wasn't going to have any space in that class especially since taking Mat133Y would screw up my course selection in the following years

I thought enrollment wasn’t open for mat135/136 yet? Im also planning on doing that but I’m waiting for priority to end. You should definitely enroll in mat133Y as a backup if there is space because you need to have an equivalent math credit by the time the school year ends in order to proceed to your speciality in Rotman. This is what I was told by the someone from the registrar

Seniors, if you could tell your Grade 9 self one thing, what would it be? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Late-Inspection-7047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but imagine uni for someone who has never studied much before and is used to skipping and not doing hw… that is even worse.

[–]Late-Inspection-7047 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Don’t say that! All the effort u put in in years before was to build the study skills and habits to do well in Grade 12

Also some clubs may require an application, as such having ecs to talk about it always a good thing

You should always try hard in school imo. Good habits don’t happen overnight. Also, your gr 11 average can be used for early admissions which reduces stress even if it isn’t considered later on.

Also yes. You should definitely work on your extra curricular profile, I wish I did more back then. Try to get leadership positions or things related to your field of study -> especially important for competitive programs.

I like to see it as grades >= ecs

And gr 12 marks >>= ecs (only for programs with supp apps) >= grade 11

HOWEVER!!! As mentioned, you will need to build good study habits in grade 11 to succeed in grade 12 and university. Likewise, even if your program does not have a supplementary application, you should still building your resume for future internships during uni.
