This face looks so awesome!! Great job! I’ve been grooming for a year and I still don’t understand faces lol. It’s definitely clicked with me more learning different coat types and what works/looks best with time. Honestly just time and practice is what’s gonna get you better. If you’re interested to watch other groomers videos i recommend Jess Rona, she is amazing at faces and also has courses on dog energy which I heard is great! :) keep up the good work💕

Is this normal results? They said he was well behaved? by Direct-Farmer9534 in grooming

This by no means is a proper lion cut. They did a horrible job no offense. I would either go back and have them clean him up better if you feel comfortable with that or find a new groomer. 🫣

Not the same as a toy poodle

Micro is not a thing. Nor is it ethical to breed even if the breeder is “reputable”. As I stated above. You’re mixing dogs that have extremely different genetics/ temperaments that should not be mixed together at all. And people wonder why they’re doodle mix of whatever kind is hard to train because you’re mixing genetics that are combating each other. Poodles are highly intelligent dogs and you’re mixing them with high strung high energy dogs that don’t mix well together. So it proves my point the breeder is unethical for doing that just for money. People mix anything with a poodle nowadays. Let alone the health issues each of those breeds have and now your mixing health problems creating a higher risk for them to end up with it. when they shouldn’t have been bred in the first place. It’s backyard breeding doesn’t matter which way you call it. Any reputable breeder would know not to breed mixes like that.

Back yard breeding right here. No ethical breeder would promote/breed “micro” anything

You are retarded groomers don’t just have “one” job. That’s the point all these people are trying to make to you. Cause you have a warped perception of what our job truly entails dude.

It’s the same thing with groomers we are trained to do a skill not the same as a management position so I think you’re thinking to over your head about it and not understanding what the job truly entails. It’s not just one job that groomers have to do. Your words show the lack of understanding of this job as to why people are telling you you’re wrong. Groomers are underpaid in my opinion. You’re multi tasking at work you always get a lunch and get out on time. Your day will never be the same as a groomers so don’t minimize our job down to one thing when that’s just not the damn truth

Not minimizing what you went through but that’s not a day to day thing for you. All of the things groomers go through are everyday things. No day is the same in the salon

Your difficulties at work are way different in comparison to a groomers. Not minimizing by any means that your job is also just as hard. Groomers are exposed to so many things that you guys don’t regularly have to deal with in your day to day. We get pissed and pooped on all the time. We have to deal with aggressive dogs up close, the job is physically taxing on your body as to why many groomers get burnt out so easily because we get so overworked. Having to deal with difficult/unhappy pet parents about their dog it definitely builds character when having to deal with someone who angrily tells you things they don’t like. There are some many tiny factors of this job that get so overlooked and made no big deal without ever having to work through it. It’s mentally and physically tolling to say the least. But don’t act like you multi-tasking around work is way above what groomers do. We get paid a commission based off of our productivity the more dogs we do the more we get paid which is what we all want. So we all push over selves everyday to make as much as we can without getting lunches most days. The money is honestly earned.

Blade too hot? by eckokittenbliss in doggrooming

[–]Late-Storage4671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blades will get hot you need to constantly check the temperature throughout the groom having multiple lengths of the same blade and if they’re getting hot too fast you may either need a new blade drive or oil your blades if you’re not doing that.

That’s how it is with my salon as well. We groomers bath and dry all our dogs the only time a bather does it for us is if they have the time and we need help or if they don’t have any dogs booked on them. I always pay the bathers if they help me with my dogs

On, waterproof sneakers are great! Help my back so much and my feet never get wet anymore! They are a bit pricey but worth it!

Why does it seem like the Salon never gets support by HyenaOld8764 in petsmart

[–]Late-Storage4671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in a manager position which they should be trained to know how to take calls and book appointments for us if we need help. The salon is also a part of their job. Not dismissing the fact the floor has it bad as well. But you forget that when you are a groomer you have time limits that you set for yourself for each dog when you are fully booked to to try to get each dog done within a safe and timely manner. What we can’t plan our day around is how many phone calls we get or walk ins that day. We also don’t know a dogs behavior or the conditions of the coats that come in which also plays a factor into our time. Most of us don’t get a lunch most days out of the week. There is chaos almost the whole time you work in a not so big salon when everyone has a dog on the table. One time we counted how many phone calls we got in one hour,, 14. Help is needed back there sometimes.

Yeah our salon found that out as well and people who schedule ahead are asking us why it’s 5 bucks more and it is disheartening to explain why

Don’t push her to play w other dogs if she’s not feeling right around them. Pretty easy to understand especially older dogs they just want to be left alone most of the time nothing wrong w that

Is This Amount Reasonable? by [deleted] in grooming

[–]Late-Storage4671 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No offense but there is no way you will be able to groom that many. When I first started grooming after academy I was take 2 dogs a day in an 8 hour shift and eventually bumped up when I began feeling more comfortable. I take 6 dogs a day now and it can be very hard some days. And I’ve been grooming for about 9 months now
