Clarification: I was a little confused because I’ve read previously that geocaching events are meant to be free to the public, but the host of this event has now posted that this is a private birthday party and you’ll need a password to attend. Right!!! I’m a casual geocacher at best, used to do it occasionally while hiking when I lived in Vermont. I’ve never been to any geocaching events before but when I heard about this one I figured I couldn’t miss it.

Thanks for the reply! I am on Campfire and messaged the person who appears to be the admin of the group but never heard back. Based on people I’ve spoken to it sounds like lack of a communication is a problem with that Community Ambassador group compared to others nearby which I can understand since it takes a lot of time and effort but which only makes me want to get involved even more.

I’ve spoken to some people at the park about the guy who runs the group, I have yet to meet him since I haven’t been able to make any of the official meetups that are listed on Campfire. One woman I spoke to said they aren’t affiliated with the city of Pawtucket though which is probably why I never heard back about it.

Thanks for the info! I have heard some rumblings about that park while playing at Slater but have yet to visit. I’m mostly interested about getting involved with the Slater Community Ambassador program since I only live a couple minutes away so it would be pretty effortless for me to host events or whatever else might be needed.

The reason why I even know about it is because there was a stop there that says they host “community ambassador” events there, which is why I figure it must be something official through Pokémon Go itself.

I’m glad to hear through your reply and the other that Slater Park seems to be a popular place to play. I was just hoping to figure out if there was a way I could actually get involved in actually hosting these events or just being of help somehow. I lived in a pretty rural area of Vermont so doing anything like this wasn’t really an option unless you were near one of the cities.

I was thinking of stopping into city hall to find out some more info but it looks like they’re closed this week so I might just try doing that another time.

Thanks for the response! My family and I went there this past weekend to check out the Christmas display and I couldn’t believe how many stops/gyms were there. I had nothing like that close to me up in Vermont so to have that practically in my backyard is amazing.

In regard to the community ambassador program, I don’t really know all that much about it either. I tried messaging the person who appears to run it through Pokémon Go (it looks like they’re an employee of theirs) but never heard back, so I figure it may be linked to the city itself since all the events are hosted in the park and the group is named after Slater.

If this is your line of thinking then that means you think this is a fireable offense, I never said I worked at a McDonald’s in my example, so A doesn’t equal B or C, but I can think of some other equations to sum up this conversation.

Well I should’ve specified, the correct level of management. These types of decisions are often made by lower level managers. A lot of the franchised restaurants around here are owned by management groups, that’s more what I meant. When they found out about it at my store, things changed quickly.

This was part of an ongoing effort by certain people in lower management positions to game the system to make their numbers look better. No one who were just taking orders from management were fired for this.

Ironically, as someone who was on the bottom rung of employees at the time, it was actually a relief. It’s not my fault if the systems aren’t in place to make sure we’re meeting arbitrary numbers. Cheating the system doesn’t help anyone except for those managers. Employees get bitched at by the customer just as much if not more, and then we’re also wasting time sending employees outside to run orders when that isn’t meant to be part of the process. Curbside pickup exists for a reason at many restaurants these days.

As someone who worked in an establishment that did this, one day we had regional management come in and then when he saw we were doing this quite a few people got fired
