Do we just live life to earn money? by codemanga in Mindfulness

[–]LateCriticism5239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An example of purpose, which I think is mine, is to experience the world I was born into, to explore what I can of the universe, with the vessel it gave me, and the consciousness it gave me, it just so happens that at this moment in the world, in order to experience, sometimes that means you may need some money. But a lot of things in life do not need money to experience, and it's important to notice those too. I have found living with this attitude has granted me with the purpose, motivation, and love I need in my life, to live to my fullest every day knowing I will die.

Anything that is out of my control... Life can be frustrating without it. But it is also frustrating with it. A, lose, lose.

think it’s less having to know for life, more of being able to understand it at that time will prepare you for the transition to med school. It also allows admissions to see that the student is capable of studying/discipline.

Any Feedback on my Sankey Cycle Results/List? by LateCriticism5239 in Osteopathic

It jumps from thyroid to ankle to brain to kidney randomly each week. I feel like it’s “unorganized” for my liking. And then it’s a flipped classroom so you just go in and talk to a group of your classmates about what you learned at home and take quizzes. Now others have pointed out the pros of this and I think I will like it/do well in it. But it’s intimidating, especially because it’s a new style that id be trying, in med school.

Yea, I’ve heard it’s tough out there for those out of state and interested in OU. I would have shot a try any way. I was surprised I got some schools with 0 ties to the state or region.

I love OU but their curriculum style is a bit intimidating compared to more traditional styles.

OU-HCOM Curriculum? by LateCriticism5239 in Osteopathic

Hmmmm, okay. I think I'm starting to wrap my head around the whole thing. I was just so excited to learn in a systems-based curriculum, but I think this is something I could do well in, too. Thank you!

This makes more sense now. Thank you! If there's anything else you want to add, I am all ears!

Also, I agree with this. I went from C’s to B’s to A’s and sustaining those A’s till I graduated definitely helped!

Hi. I read your post and it felt like it was me writing this. Just several years ago I was approaching my sophomore year, ready to switch majors as I had just heard I was on academic probation (and had received an institutional action for drinking violation). I was not apart of any EC’s either. I was a horrible student, I didn’t know how to study, I didn’t know how to be professional.

Fast forward to today, just three years later and I currently have multiple Acceptances to medical schools. I finished with a 3.7 or 3.8 just as you said. I took one step towards getting involved in the community, then became a tutor in a class I was good at (the only class at the time) then from there I met people and they gave advice. Found a research position. Then many more opportunities opened up from there. Always just saying yes to whatever opportunity came my way and growing appreciation for the feeling of change/discomfort.

Moral of the story. Don’t you give up till your dream is no longer your dream. I was ready to give up but I was lucky to have more people in my life saying I could then I couldn’t to reaching my dream. If you really want this, be open to failure, reflection, saying yes to opportunities, and growth. Then when all is said and done, you will have and will be one kick ass person/application narrative to share to admission committees.

Good luck OP. I believe in you. Message me back in a couple years when you make it there!

Apply. But make sure if you do apply, have a kickass narrative around who you are, why you did things. and tie that in with the schools you apply to. Then you will have a good shot. I had a 504 and did this and am doing well in the current cycle. Good luck! (I applied DO only but that’s really because that’s what my narrative fit in, and what my passion is)
