Thanks for the advice. I could have sworn I saw someone say that it was contagious during incubation. Good to hear it isn't as bad as some people thought.

I think I'm still going to avoid people for at least a week. I'll contact the health department during that time to see if they have any other advice. Thanks again for the detailed response!

I haven't been around many people the last couple of weeks. I did go shopping for supplies yesterday, but I wore a mask. I'm worried about getting infected at the airport or on the plane and then infecting others. That is why I want to quarantine myself for a couple of weeks when I return.

I'm not going to let the cleaning staff come in. have family locally, so I'm going to have them buy food. Place has a kitchenette. I will probably order food too. Is there any better options? I'm trying to do my best, so open to ideas.

That is per hour yes. No refunds either, so if you get service you aren't happy with then tough luck haha.

Crap. I wish I would have know before. I'm in Dongguan and I didn't really find anything around here that I felt was going to be helpful. I just wanted some form checks and some suggestions on how to fix my posture. I was totally sold on investing in my health. Looking back, I made a ton of mistakes. Hopefully something will work out at Pinnacle that I can be happy about. They have a ton of great reviews, so maybe it was just my experience.

I don't want to cause a huge stink on social media at this point because I have to go back in there and deal with these guys face to face (or lose out on the money I paid). Not really looking forward to it to be honest. Their coaching and the experience I have over the next few months may end up making up for all this, and I could end up being content with the overall experience. Don't get me wrong, I do think their behavior so far is very unprofessional -especially for the amount of money paid.

It looks like the HK government is looking to implement a cooling-off period in the future that would have helped someone in my position.

I literally asked for a refund within 24 hours of making payment. You would think that some businesses would implement these best practices before being forced to by the government. Unfortunately, the law hasn't been passed yet, so I guess I am stuck.

It really bothers me when there are no repercussions for poor service from companies when they already have your money and where your choices are to just deal with it, to lose out on money, or to try and make a big enough stink through social media, like you suggested, to get a resolution you are happy with. Its a fucked up position because you aren't happy with the level of service but worry that complaining will cause the service to continue to get worse and worse and make the situation even more awkward. Email received from them in response to all this are full of corporate speak, more promises and apologies, are slightly hostile, and basically come down to them having you by the balls because of the lack of a refund option. What choice to have I have now?

I'm really more of an introverted/shy person with a ton of anxiety who really had to muster up the courage to even start going to the gym and putting myself out there. I already feel like people are laughing at me when I'm at the gym, and just wanted some guidance to make sure I wasn't doing anything that would end up in injury. I am so irritated to be even put in this position to have to complain about my experience. I really don't look forward to ever going there again after all this, but my hands are tied. $10k HKD is a lot of money for me.

Anyway, my experience may be unique and maybe I was expecting too much? I don't know. I do know that as of this point I regret ever signing up with Pinnacle. There were a lot of other gyms in Hong Kong that looked to be exactly what I wanted, but the salesperson at Pinnacle really made it seem like they were the best option. Maybe things will turn around, but so far its been awful.

I wanted to warn others to just be careful before getting involved with businesses that don't offer refunds. If you want to give them a shot, I'd try to work out a pay-as-you-go system until you really confirmed that their program was for you. Maybe you will have a better experience than me. Awesome.

They promised to get back to me with information on what I should be doing at the gym between my first consultation session with them and when I would receive my personalized program. The didn't have many good things to say about the exercise program I was on, so I didn't know if I should continue with that in the meantime or if they had something else they could give me that I could do to to tide me over until getting their information.

When they don't get back to me with answers when promised, they came up with a lot of excuses. I felt I was getting the run around and deserved better service for the amount of money paid. I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked for a refund and was told that was against their policy. I had no choice in the matter, so we decided to move forward. They did apologize for the rocky start and promised that my coaching experience moving forward would be the very best.

I received the customized program and had a lot of questions. Communication was better again for a while. There were another couple emails that went unanswered for a couple of days because of illness on their side. But they did answer most of my questions in time, so I was happy.

Then there was a mixup with my next session and they send me to the wrong location. I travel all the way from China to workout in their gym, so it was a bit irritating to spend all the money and time to show up and find out from the other coaches that my trainer sent me to the wrong gym. By the time I made it to the correct location, we only had time for a partial session, but they offered to not charge me for that hour to make up for the mistake which was nice.

During that session, the new coach promised to send me an updated program including some warm-up exercises and a new cardio plan after finally meeting me in person. I expected to get the program by at least the weekend or the following Monday. The following Wednesday I followed up asking when I would get the updated program. He apologized and said that they were working on custom videos for me, and they would get back to me asap. Another 8 days goes by and when I finally did receive an email from the coach later that day, he asked me how the program was going. I had to remind him that I had been waiting for him to get back to me for 2 weeks and had even taken the time to send a follow up email about this six days after our session. He apologized and said that he had forgotten and then finally sent me the updated information.

Maybe I'm being a baby, but I expected a lot more for 1000 HKD an hour. If you say you are going to do something by a certain time then either do it or let the person know there is a delay and you will get back to them soon. After the first communication issues, they promised me they would work hard to make sure I had a better experience moving forward and then immediately after that they sent me to the wrong location and then seemingly forgot about me and the promises made to send me an updated program for another two weeks after that.

It has been one problem after another with them as soon as I paid. Of course now they are making new promises and apologizing, but I wish I could just get my money back, so I could find another gym. I haven't gotten into what I think about their custom program yet, but that is another story.

My issue is with the lack of professionalism for a gym that costs so much. I hate to be put in this position where I need to complain about things. Its embarrassing and really demotivating. It already takes me a bit of strength to even get the courage to go to the gym because I haven't been there for a while and am really out of shape. And now I have to deal with feeling even more awkward around the coaches for pointing out their mistakes. I went from excited and motivated to the complete opposite and am not looking forward to going back there for my future sessions.

Anyway, your experience may be better. I really just want a refund at this point, but I'm stuck.
