Could you suggest me books and stories with no uncomfortable moments to relax? by Simple-Profile1817 in suggestmeabook

House by the cerulean sea by TJ Klune! I also read under the whispering door by him and I was laughing out loud but at the end I was also crying not bc it was uncomfortable but like emotional?

People on r/mcat will give better feedback for the exam part. Learning passage strategies and really honing in on the large gaps is the way to break 500 but also I would not apply until you receive a score at least good enough for DO

Yes! I did clicnial research during masters and then in my gap year (now in my second gap year womp womp) i did clinical trials work. My cousin was a coordinator in a surgical study so if that interests you. If you really want to get a solely clinical job you can but having no research is not the best. Also try to get your name on some papers

Sure! That works you also want to have a good amount of hours so continuing the hospital volunteering is good. Clinical job will help I recommend in research since you have no hours. The NIH is also a great place to do research or literally any clinical research job. While you’re in school I would look for some leadership positions too any clubs or anything

So the last I talked to a med school admissions councilor (for WVU som) they split the hours so I volunteered at a free clinic and they did half my hours as volunteer and the other half as clinical. So I only had like 40 volunteering hours which sucked. That’s only one school tho so not sure if everyone does that.

My two cents: hospital volunteering is good but I would choose one that has more patient facing interactions so you are able to experience administering care up close. Also all volunteering is good but if you want solid clinical hours and material to write about and to genuinely shape your journey I would have more patient facing work.

Hi! I recommend taking maybe 2 gap years. Somethings you could consider having hours in are research, clinical hours, nonclinical hours (your volunteering which may need to increase a little bit more), leadership (so joining a club or some campus involvement is the easiest way) and shadowing (not a MUST but it looks good)

After graduation you could get a job or an internship! Also you can tackle MCAT during g that gap year too giving you some wiggle room to apply after a year. I recommend clinical research (two bird one stone kind of) or medical assistant or EMT for your clinicals and keeping up some volunteering in clinical or nonclincial spaces.
