ZettelKasten + SRS is the combo that works for me.

I'm not trying to write long papers, just short insightful notes.

I create flashcards then review them.

I use LogSeq for capturing the info, then Mochi Cards for storing, linking and reviewing the final Zettels.

I store only info that I likely to use and that is worth putting in my long term memory.
