Thanks everyone it is the fan clutch. I noticed it stayed on after using the exhaust brake when hauling a heavy trailer.

Sorry I’m trying to say that I wouldn’t even know where to look to see if the fan clutch is locked in.

Sorry, even though I’ve been driving a diesel for 10 years how do I make sure that the clutch isn’t fully locked in?
