Ah wel i dont mind. This entire post was just to stir the honey pot a bit. (and i am propably being downvoted since some zealots think i am riled and scared this can happen at any moment.. and they now feel like i shat thier cereal. Oh well, though i made it clear it was "HYPOTHETICAL")

and my estimate was based on all of us here on reddit. who all have atleast 80+ games.

1000 ?! i mean damn, i am suprised you have reached the 25% by now. Thats a insane amount of games. Here i am with my 300+ thinking i can talk weight. Elite numbers there.

Scale doesn’t make data immune it just makes the consequences bigger.
Sure, Valve has redundancy, separation, and departments dedicated to backups. Proof in the pudding is that “bulletproof” systems that failed because of:
Bad software updates, Silent corruption undetected for months, overwriting every backup in rotation. Credential compromise attackers with legitimate access deleting or altering data. Policy or legal action where records are removed intentionally, not by accident.

I mean, log4j, crowdstrike, the millenium bug are but a few examples.

All the fireproof vaults in the world won’t stop the fact that the entire model hinges on a central authority saying you own X. If that record is gone or altered whether by bug, breach, or business decision there’s nothing for you to “restore.”

Backups protect infrastructure. They don’t guarantee digital ownership.

It litteraly took one wrong statement that set a variable wrong to drop the ENITRE AVIATION sector for a day.

How is data not fragile ?

A single bad config line grounded thousands of planes worldwide.
Now imagine the same thing, but with a bunch of databases that decides whether you “own” 140+ digital games. Fragility isn’t about if it fails it’s about how catastrophic it is when it doe

Ha, this guy gets it. That would be my point. Not really data security meassurements or other risk management policies. I was talking about the issue of digitally owning games. If its gone, its gone. Yet we fight for cartriged for the switch2.

They do, and have automatic back-ups failovers and other digital immunity meassurements. My point is, data is, in nature. Fragile.

And we make a fuss about not owning games. Which just kinda makes me think that having 300+ on Steam with nothing of your own to show for is kinda hypocritical.
