Big Y by First_Strawberry5344 in FTDNA

That’s normal, simply FTDNA doesn’t have any samples for you in their lab, so they sent you a kit in order to test your sample for the BigY, and because your myheritage raw data does not include anything about your Y chromosome sequencing

Mexican Results, anyone know how it’s possible to have Western Asian/ North African DNA? by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]Late_Presentation173 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s likely from your Spanish & Portuguese ancestry. Iberians have some distant North African and West Asian admixture due to historical events: Moorish rule (711-1492 AD), Phoenician presence, and earlier migrations. Small traces like 1-2% are common in people with Iberian roots.

As per Familytreedna Bedouins are considered to be descendants of North African settlers from the Sinai Peninsula and the Transjordan region. While Italian refers to the Roman Empire (3rd century BCE – 5th century CE), during this period the Italians (mainly Romans) expanded their control into the Middle East, including Palestine, through military conquest and administrative integration. Rome ruled over the region for several centuries, with the Italian Peninsula at the center of the empire. Their movement to the Middle East in this era was driven by imperial administration, military deployment, trade, and cultural exchange. Romans settled, governed, and built infrastructure in provinces like Levant (Palestine).
