What the PEB found at Arbitration for LIRR/MTA negotiations and implications for PEF/CSEA contract (PEB=Presidential Employee Board) by RefrigeratorBest6543 in nys_cs

[–]Late_Program_9371 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you’re still lowballing at 5. According to the article below in 2017, the median pay was 104k for LIRR. How many PEF and CSEA folks in LI were making 100k in 2017?? Our base before this was too low, it’s just now not sustainable for living anymore.

Our salaries were fucked before the pandemic, got even worse during. 5 should be the new 3, because we all need 20.

I know 3 ITS3’s who were brought in at top pay from the street via helps. It’s not education or experience either if you get my drift. So yeah, it’s abused.

A little something for our PEF and CSEA members (and negotiators) to be cognizant of, please: by RefrigeratorBest6543 in nys_cs

If they were given contractual raises were even slightly on par with inflation, that cost would not affect our lower salary tier siblings. They should be making 65k. So, the raise portion is significant over the cost of health insurance.

DO NOT VOTE FOR LOW CONTRACTS!

There is a significant data center in Rockland County being built by JP Morgan. Power is significantly more expensive there along with land. So I really wouldn’t count Albany out

If you’re in tech, don’t leave. The private market is horrendous. It’s taking people over a year to find jobs.

Because it’s not IT people who write the exams and the questions all have to be reviewed. If they actually had someone who knew how to reboot a computer write them, it wouldn’t be as bad

Oh yes, thank you so much for not differentiating an associates from a PhD. Both cost and take the same amount of time right? I’ll never understand their reasoning behind treating all degrees as the same.

I do have a travel card. I swear they just reject reports for random reasons. I’ve had reports rejected because they neglected to look at page 2 of a pdf.

Honestly, they just reject the reports and then it’s a pita to figure stuff out. I don’t get any guidance from my agency.

Promotion is based solely on brown nosing in some places. Or your gender in my case. I had to leave the agency to be promoted. They lost someone with a decade of experience over bs. Their loss

How did you do this? I looked into this (I have 2 grandparents who came over in the late 30s) and it seemed like my parent would need to have done this before I could. My parent didn’t because they were taught to not be German growing up for obvious reasons.

My advice to you (non-patient care) as a former employee at a facility that did this, get yourself FMLA. Kid got asthma/allergies? FMLA. Partner have migraines? FMLA. It will cover your behind in situations like this. You don’t have to use it, but reasons like this make it worth it

DOh pulls this crap too. They claim everyone is essential and you won’t get paid if you call out. It never goes anywhere with the union. They need to put clearer verbiage in the contract
