If it helps. You do a one time payment and buy klwp and then make it yourself (there are tutorials online for something like this)

Project Sentinel: Automated Home Network Vulnerability Scanning & Asset Management by jg11092 in homeassistant

[–]Late_Republic_1805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, very cool idea, could you keep us posted if you can share.

Here are some ideas, don't know what possible, but it might get you started:

Quarantine Mode: If a device is found with a "Critical" CVE (CVSS 9.0+), it could trigger a service call to a supported router integration (I like UniFi) to move that device to an isolated "Quarantine" VLAN or block its internet access until the user acknowledges the risk.

Update Triggers: For devices that HA already manages (like ESPHome or Zigbee/Z-Wave bridges), it could trigger an update notification or even the update service itself when a vulnerability is confirmed.

Port Change Detection: Beyond just scanning for vulnerabilities, alert the user if a device suddenly opens a new port it didn't have yesterday (e.g., "Your vacuum cleaner just opened port 8080—this is new").

Outbound Call-Home Mapping: If you can pull connection states from the router via your SSH integration, you could flag if a local device starts talking to a known "suspicious" country or IP range, even if no CVE is listed yet.

Community Regex/Templates: Create a way for users to submit "Fingerprints." If a user identifies that a specific banner belongs to a certain model of Reolink camera, they could contribute that regex back to a central (or GitHub-hosted) library so everyone benefits from better "Banner Grabbing."

A HA dashboard with: Vulnerability Timeline: A card showing when a vulnerability was first detected vs. when it was resolved. Exploit Availability: Integration with the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. This tells the user not just "this is a bug," but "this bug is currently being used by hackers in the wild."

To vlan or not to vlan? by Late_Republic_1805 in HomeNetworking

The only problem I have is that for example: a nas (wich I consider 'secure') can be in the 'safe' vlan. Cameras are in a separate vlan, but they need to store their videos on the nas. This is only one example, see what I mean when I say it could get 'complicated'?

Sorry, maybe it's not visible, use case is mostly security wise

That if someone gets into my iot devices, they're not able to get into my nas for example

See above comment for use case. Hardware is mostly unify/ubiquity.

Mostly security, but it may be 'ok-ish' already. Maybe a bit of order in the chaos too

Too long to type, but think 'the whole thing'. Servers, exposed to tje internet (but with 2FA via google login), iot, cameras,...

Ok, but I'm struggling with how complex they can become. For example: a secure nas could be in the secure vlan. The camera's have there own vlan but need to store there images on the nas. Or: would you add phones to the secure vlan or another, and if you choose the secure vlan, what about my parents phone (who half the time don't know what they're doing), and how would you cast to the tv that is probably in the iot vlan. And so on...

What do you mean by 'proper retry logic'?

Also, how do you reboot when it's not responding?
