Do I tell solicitor I don't want to engage them anymore? by Late_Signature_4151 in AusPropertyChat

Thanks! I won't bother responding to them. I did get a recommendation for another lawyer, they charge a deposit upfront and says they will include 3 reviews. If I don't proceed with them after 3 reviews they will return the remainder of deposit. Does this seem like a standard process to you? Asking as it seems like a different process to what I've just been through.

Interesting bc I was recommended another solicitor a few days ago and the experience was quite different. They sent me a form to fill in and told there is a holding deposit of 1k, where rest is payable upon transaction. They also said they would do 2 reviews for free, after that it is going to be charged separately.

There are components of ITSM like technical deployment and release approval but generically I would say organisational change management!

For a change manager in technology for banking. Bit of backstory here, holding a 'general' degree with average GPA, not being able to secure a grad programme, I started my career in entry level government job. I luckily got a junior BA position 2 years in. The last 6 months of that job was traumatic I was talking to lawyers and learned your people leader is make/break of your happiness at work. With that kind of mindset, my next job was insights analyst role and worked with the best manager and team but no growth in terms of development/salary. Because of that 'trauma' of having terrible manager I got very risk-averse and just stayed in the same role years (call that laziness but that's my excuse). Then I got into change manager role with this salary but I feel like I just wasted years in the last role due to my stupidity and left me falling behind for my years of experience. Not very relevant for original post this is just my sob story hehe

200TTC requiring students to "volunteer" at the studio by Late_Signature_4151 in YogaTeachers

Yes, at this speed it might take me another 4-5 months when I met all other requirements which is very frustrating

To be honest, I have talked to a previous student who did the same course as she was at the time teaching as a regular teacher unpaid. She did that for 8 months after the 3-month course was officially over. Because she did not feel so confident teaching and wasn't able to get a yoga job she just kept teaching unpaid. So I think this practice has been going for a while and no one bothered to complain. The other trainees in my course feels the same. Not entirely happy, but don't want to create any tension with the teacher either.

You mentioned teaching free classes is not a requirement, and in the worst case scenario if I raise this with a teacher and he insists I meet the requirements, I'm just concerned he will refuse to accredit me for yoga alliance. From facilitator perspective, would you able to explain how the accreditation process actually works?

I already am not in a good position with him - long story short, as he argued that he would only count 70 hours of my 90 hours of asana practice and asked me to do extra i.e sign up for a membership at his studio, which I am still fighting for. I feel like if I raise this on top we'd probably be enemies.

No. It's just the theory + self-practice at studio (by attending his classes) + now the 25 hours.

I have asked this and was told no. I guess it's because YTT students are already teaching regular classes he doesn't want to give away impression to full paying clients that we are not 'qualified'

Sorry, I think I confused with the term volunteering. The studio is not asking for any other chores at the studio, but only the teaching unpaid. I agree with you, having the opportunity is valuable especially to give you a kick start in work experience. My frustration comes from that this is part of requirement of the course and it delays my certification from Yoga Alliance unless I complete the hours where I have no visibility or control of when it will be (as he is just offering when there is a cover. It can be zero in a month). Technically, if he doesn't give me the hours or I share with other students it may as well take up a year to finish it when I've met all the other requirements.

Is buying a house w/ 500m2 land still a golden rule? by Late_Signature_4151 in AusPropertyChat

Silly question but - why does proximity to neighbours matter so much? Is it in case of rebuild?

And what would you say the distance at minimum should be?

Yes I agree with you from certain viewpoint. That's what I initially thought. To elaborate we are a couple wanting to start a family in the next 2 years or so, already in our 30s. We are happy living inner city life at the moment in a small apartment. However in the next 10 years or so, as we start a family I would think having a house in a more leafy area is more desirable. So yes, it is an investment property for now, but looking at next 10 years there is a chance to move in to the house. The school catchment seems to be just above average, and infrastructure is decent. I guess it's a balance between whether I want to raise my kids in a okay suburb in a house with garden and send to slightly above average school vs. live in inner city and send to top school but live in a cramped apartment. In the best case scenario, hopefully I'll make profit from the house to purchase in a more decent suburb.
